We have a (link removed due to account closed). Why don't we use it? (Link removed due to account closed) Say, for things like, "The summer Wikifest is arriving Hamuary 32nd", or, if Weekly Events start, "This week's event: Fist of Bounty Hunter." Also use it for announcing Faetured articles & users? I must wonder, who made the account anyway? Who has access to it? 23:10, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment - But, then who is this? This one looks more official than the other one, as this one shows the new pages on the wiki, and other stuff about the Wiki. ~MuzTalk 03:29, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
The other one's probably an old scrapped account,... and that's who Jagex is following? That's not good. 14:46, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I tweeted Jagex about it. They now follow that account. 17:01, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Support - Sure, why not use the official one for the wiki? It can sure help us gain traffic for out events. ~MuzTalk 03:29, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment - We would have to confirm that this page is indeed owned by a member of the wiki, a sysop at least. What is twitter is that kind of like facebook? And was there ever a discussion on having one of these? Zaros tally.PNGBladeQuick chat button.png# 17:40, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Good point, & Make a twitter account to see what it's like. You can delete the account at any time if you want. 18:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

We need to find a way to get account deleted. We went through a bit of BS with a YT account, there is no reason to for this to happen here. Here on the wiki, everyone and anyone can view all of someones actions. There is no way to do that on a shared twitter account.--Degenret01 04:02, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment i think i made the one that dave lopo posted because i remember asking in the admin requests page to put it up on sitenotice. I will try and figure out what i put the pass as then delete the account. As for the one muzzy posted: Yes, it is more official than my one so i support having twitter. Liam - Beta Tester (talk) 14:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Update i have deleted the one dave lopo posted, So i have removed the link as it will just come up with a message. Liam - Beta Tester (talk) 14:06, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - How many of our users use twitter? I dont. How many of our users are willing to look at Twitter? Not me. ço¬Ø

Jagex follows us. People follow Jagex. People look at who Jagex follows. They see us. They are interested. They come here, voila, possible new contributors. And, Jagex mentions fansite's events. If we were to use that to say when we were having an event, such as a wikifest, thay might announce it, too. Absofruitley no harm could be done by it if it's handled well. Although I would like someone to put it on the Sitenotice who, exactly, owns the twitter. 19:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
You seriously believe that Jagex is willing to put a WIKIFEST on the main page of And thats one thing thats special about a wikifest, its a gathering for WIKIANS not random die-hard Jagex fans that showed up to support jagex. Isnt that what we were trying to AVOID last time, all the talk about talking ONLY in the clan chat so no other users would tag along? Im sorry if I sound negative, but all that went through with the youtube account still causes confusion for me, even if its not a shared account its bound get in some kind of trouble. Chang to STRONG STONG OPPOSE. ço¬Ø
Jagex announces clan events (which this would be considered) on the forums, not on the main page. Just to clear that up. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 22:54, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
"You seriously believe that Jagex is willing to put a WIKIFEST on the main page of"
Of course not. -.- That's not what I meant by "announce." They announce ALOT of fansite events on their Twitter account. 01:37, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Whatever you guys do with twiitter keep me out of it. ço¬Ø

Support the idea of a Twitter account only because you don't want Jagex following a fake account, which may happen if you simply ignore Twitter completely. I personally think Twitter, and everything it represents, is an absurd and facepalmingly stupid example of timewasting taken to the extreme. But it's not relevant to my point. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 22:55, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

In most cases, it is. But, since it is there, and since people use it, it is very good for people and companies when it comes to certain subjects. It's good for Jagex announcing their FunOrb events. It is good for news article writers and bloggers to put a short summary about their article or blog post and then put a short link to it, (and it's easier for their fans to follow them instead of going to their website every day), etc. If you're a certain type of person or business or whatever, it is a very good idea to have a twitter account. 01:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Why isn't it easier just to use your own website? JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 12:21, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
You should have your own website, yes... but since people use twitter, you should have a twitter account. I'd say it's easier to go to twitter and see everyone's latest news, and see what your friends are doing and stuff, all at the same time, instead of going to people's individual websites. 14:57, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Support - Strong strong oppose colo? This isn't the banning of all personal freedoms and execution of newborns. Jagex uses facebook, twitter, and all of those other social networking sites because they generate traffic and reach out to an audience we might not be already reaching out to. Cap and goggles.pngTEbuddy 01:45, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Exactly. 14:57, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Whoopsie, not signed in. 14:58, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Comment - I think we should make weekly events public and announce them on the twitter. Vimes, could you please put on the sitenotice a question as to who owns the Twitter account? 15:01, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

You need to ask someone else, I don't know the rules for editing the sitenotice. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 17:05, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Comment - In the thread about the wikifest being announced by Jagex on twitter I mentioned that I noticed that a screenshot of ShamusHand was the background(his username was in it, although the name was removed since then) and that we had a user named ShamusHand. I got a reply and he says he does not have @rswiki and that the screenshot was one he posted to DeviantArt when RuneScape HD came out and someone else used it. - TehKittyCatTalk Wikian-Book 18:13, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Even though people may disagree with the use of a twitter, I personally believe it can provide beneficial to the wiki.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 02:55, 17 September 2009.

Comment - Jagex basically said exactly what I thought they would when it came to twitter in the latest Q&A.

Q: "Why do you honestly have twitter...I mean C'mon.""

A:" Mod Paul M: We use Twitter for much the same reason as anyone else does: to open up more avenues of communication. There are some cool Twitter apps for phones too, so if we're putting on an event or want to help support a player event, Twitter just helps to get that message out to players who may otherwise miss out. That’s not to say you need to go out and get Twitter! We will still continue to provide information on our forums and website. "

With that said is there any real reason to not want to get in contact with the hundreds of thousands of people that use twitter? Cap and goggles.pngTEbuddy 18:07, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

Request for closure - As this has been going nowhere since September, Please can someone close this? Oh and, I think the concencous is: 3 supports, 1 Oppose. Concencous is Twitter is going to be used Liam - Beta Tester (talk) 19:29, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Closed Not enough input for a consensus, the thread has been inactive for months, and consensus is now spelled concencous. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 19:41, November 25, 2009 (UTC)
