Forum:User:Manhattan2 unblock request
I am requesting to be unblocked so I can stop annoying the BCrat Gaz L with monthly edit suggestions I feel like no one necessarily cares about me being blocked anymore
As a recap, I was blocked indefinitely back in the start of 2018 for attempting to use a private server to get detailed (java pepelaugh) images, edit conflict/toxicity and also of course discussing an idea to monetize/sell the wikian title to other players.
I will have you know I have not done any of those 3 things ever since then (the private server images were bad quality anyways) and don't have any plans to do them in the forseeable future.
Most people that knew me from 2 yrs ago know I was a decent editor and I was a custodian (whatever that means) and had access to my own bot which I did over 13k automated edits. If i had plans to massively disrupt the wiki then I could've probably done so with the bot, but instead that was never my intentions.
Please help your boy Gaz L and support this unblock

Oppose - Guess I'll make the first non-troll comment on here and say you're still the same toxic and elitist player you were back when you got banned and I see no reason why you should be unbanned. That said, I do support that you stop pestering our poor boy Gaz L07:51, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Support - Gaz has been a great member of the RuneScape Wiki. He likes to send people badges. Consensus is Cook Me Plox, but Dictatorship is Gaz Lloyd. Gaz should be unbanned, it is a shame he was banned in the first place. Haidro 09:19, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- But seriously though, oppose. Saying "I could have done worse but didn't" and "nobody cares" are really poor reasons for an unblock Ciphrius Kane (talk) 09:27, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose - There were numerous reasons why you were blocked from the wiki, which you haven't addressed at all apart from saying you won't do it again. If you're not going to put any effort in to your unblock appeal then I'm not going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you won't come back and be a complete asshole again. Sure you were a decent editor, but so was Mol and many others. There are many more people doing much more on the wiki these days than you did, with an added 100% less toxicity. It's also not a great look in the slightest that your main argument in this thread seems to be "Well at least I didn't fuck up the wiki with my bot". I look forward to you asking for this request to be withdrawn when you realise that it's probably not going to go anywhere jayden 09:32, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose - No. Anyone who exploits things (like the trust of editors or the Wikian title) should not be allowed to edit the wiki. Full stop. You proved to me and many others that your behavior is not suitable for any part of the site or its community; "I could have done worse", actually sounds like a thinly-veiled threat. Go away, and don't come back. --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko) 17:40, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose - While I think any individual has the capacity for change over time, some of the elements that I would look for as evidence of change are taking responsibility for past actions, desire to atone, and contriteness.
As an analogy: if this were an appeal for early release in prison for an individual convicted of murder, your current argument is the equivalent of saying that you only stabbed one person when you could have shot dozens (If i had plans to massively disrupt the wiki then I could've probably done so with the bot, but instead that was never my intentions.), and you haven't stabbed anyone since you've been in prison, because stabbing people is no longer fun (the private server images were bad quality anyways). Thus, you argue that I should be convinced that if you are released, that you won't go kill someone.
I do not see evidence in this request that you are contrite, taking responsibility, or attempting to atone, and do not have any reason to believe that your behavior after unblocking would be any different from type of behavior that earned the block. As such, I do not think it would be appropriate to lift the block at this time.18:47, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose - I support Gaz L. I don't support you Manhaattan.20:59, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose - The request as presented is not a serious attempt to return to the site. There may have been suggestions to certain site administrators to resolve incorrect information on articles, but as it is currently detailed there is no outcome that will be favorable to all parties. I encourage you to reconsider how you approach the community on this subject and how to better present a case for the removal of the ban. Ryan PM 14:08, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose - You're what's shown to new editors when people mention Wikian Drama and Bad Faith. As much as Unblock threads aren't meant to be apologies, it might be in your best interest next time to look into how to write a sincere one if you ever hope to return.23:15, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

sigh - I wish you took this more seriously. Like, I know you don't want to prostrate yourself before the community - and honestly you don't need to - but there's still some amount of... deference? Humility? Politeness? you should show when writing your statement. Like I have said elsewhere, your core points would be good if expanded on in proper argument, rather than being jokey and expecting everyone to assume the absolute best version of your argument - because people won't (and haven't), since you are arguing from a position of disadvantage. Plus, you know, taking some responsibility and showing some amount of regret or remorse.
And to be fair, I haven't exactly seen much evidence that you are not still toxic (if anything it may have increased based on the things I've heard from others). You were a good editor, and technical editors are great to have, but we have been burned too many times before by letting good editors with bad attitudes slide. At this point we cannot let that go any more.
I don't actually mind being sent suggestions, I often pass them on or action them.23:35, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
