You know one way to give this Wiki more character and flavour of it's own would be to let the adventurers tell their tales or histories which they may have collected about the RuneScape realms. A link should be on the main page for "Adventurers Histories" - it would make for entertaining reading. RuneScape 22:25, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Better idea: we can get a new namespace for the wiki (three max, I read), and use it for such user stories. We'd have to hammer out some guidelines for it, but it's a good idea, right? =) Oddlyoko 22:46, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
We can get new namespaces? Guide: plz But yes, these would be permissible as long as they are separate from the encyclopedia part of the Wiki. We wouldn't want anyone quoting as truth user-submitted stories. Hyenastetalk 23:11, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Heh, so we have options for "Guide:" and "Player:" (tentative name). Like the name? Oddlyoko 23:24, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Definitely guide, but I think we should be cautious about using up our limit of 3 new namespaces—we don't even use the forums namespace yet. Hyenastetalk 23:32, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but the Forums namespace comes with the wiki, and doesn't count against our limit of three custom-spaces. Oddlyoko 23:34, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
But I think we should start using it for something before making our own custom one. I have no idea what we would use it for though. Hyenastetalk 23:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
A more organised way of asking questions and getting answers, and a way to "reserve" the Main Page talk for more "important" things. I can set it up, it costs us nothing to try. Oddlyoko 23:57, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Please do. Hyenastetalk 23:58, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
I've requested a forums set up from the Central Wikia. Oddlyoko 00:05, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Huh? I thought we already had a forums namespace. Hyenastetalk 00:07, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
We do, it just requires a little HTML coding. Oddlyoko 00:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Surely we could just copy and paste it from elsewhere? Hyenastetalk 00:14, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, should make myself clear. >_> You have to add code on several pages, like templates and stuff, and I'm scared to mess something up, seeing as I'm hopeless at the MediaWiki: namespace and terrible at templating. I might put something in the wrong place. >_> Oddlyoko 00:16, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Now it's clear. :P Hyenastetalk 00:20, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't get it. What's going on? If you mean add Guide: to each guides, I'm strongly against that. It looks ugly like that. Why not just ADD guide to the end whatever it is? -- 00:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Sort of. It's a namespace, like RuneScape: and Category: and User:. Oddlyoko 00:41, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

But then we'd need Skill:, Quest:, and stuff. That's dumb in my eyes.--Richard 19:30, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

No shit duh it's dumb. Why would we need those namespaces? Hyenastetalk 19:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Well if we don't need those, why do we need Guide:?--Richard 19:40, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
To separate our "all about <subject>" articles from our "how-to" articles. Ideally, these separate namespaces would have separate style and guidelines as the two types of writing are not particularly similar. Hyenastetalk 19:45, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
THere's quest guides, skill guides, general game guides, all that can go under Guides:. I'll see about finding a page that shows you how useful namespaces can be. Oddlyoko 20:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

OK - so now that the organizational details have been sorted out - where can we actually go to read adventurer's tales or "histories"? RuneScape 17:51, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Shall we allow players to submit and maintain their stories in a new forum alongside "help desk" and the "tavern"? It would be the easiest way to separate articles from stories, and we would have all stories together in one easy to locate place. Hyenastetalk 16:13, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

We could do that, but it is not intuitively obvious to someone looking for Adventurer's Stories that they should go to "Forums" to find them. Generally, Forums are for ongoing discussions, whereas stories are interesting content to be read (more like articles in that respect). Could we have a link in the "navigation" box under "Forums" called "Adventurer's Stories" instead? Historian 21:37, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Why can't people just keep their stories in a sub-page of their user page? We definetly don't need a namespace for them and I don't think a forum would get used much. -- Couchpotato99 (talk) (contribs) 21:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, that sounds great. We could have a page "[[RuneScape:Stories" or something more dramatic where users can link to their stories. Several users, Ace of Risk most notably, are already doing the subpage thing. Hyenastetalk 22:07, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
If the purpose of this Wikia is to enhance the enjoyment of RuneScape for players and to provide a fansite with a sense of community - then these Adventurer's Tales provide an added dimension and colour to RuneScape and greater roleplaying interaction for members of this wikia. I believe that this forum would be read a great deal - it may not appear to be used much since Adventurer's Tales do not generally require responses. That is why I don't think a Forum is necessarily the right place for them. It would be a good idea to put a counter on the Adventurer's Tales pages so that the number of readers can be measured. Historian 22:20, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Ah yes, even better: the glorious page RuneScape:Adventurers' Tales. This is actually a step up from a forum since it would be its own page instead of a sub-forum. This also provides an area for comments on the story, at the corresponding talk page. RuneScape:Adventurers' Tales would be set-up in a different way than the forums. I'd imagine it would be a list of entries complete with the name of the story, the author, and a brief description. Hyenastetalk 22:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Sounds like a great idea! When will it be ready? High King 22:50, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

How do you navigate to RuneScape:Adventurers' Tales from the Main Page? The King 01:19, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

I'll add it to the Main Page.--Richard 02:27, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
