Forum:Use the main CC for Wikifest
Hi everyone. Sorry for the last minute request about Wikifest. I brought this concern up in the planning forum, but it appears that the issue didn't get much discussion so I thought I'd bring it to a wider audience.
I'd like to propose that we use the official Wika clan chat R S Wikia for the Wikifest. Last fest, we used an alternate clan chat, rswikia and it looks like that is the proposed CC for this season's wikifest. I think this alternate CC caused a lot of confusion for last fest and I think it will cause similar confusion this time around.
Proposal: Our official clan chat for this Wikifest and future wikifests be R S Wikia, the same chat that we as a community use on a regular basis.
Support - Using the same chat will be simpler and less confusing. Regular chat members won't have to switch chats. New participants will be introduced to the CC and this may encourage them to use it in the future. Finally, this is our official chat, and this is an official wiki event. It seems very basic common sense that we use the main chat.23:08, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Neutral - It all depends. If the official chat has enough room to add possible fest mods (do they get the rank) and the owner is able, then I say go ahead. But, if the owner isn't here in time, the secondary chat may be useful. ~MuzTalk 23:13, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

- Theres been much worse than this.--Degenret01 01:12, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Support - The simpler it is the less chance of confusion. Non participants may enjoy listening in.--Degenret01 01:12, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Support - Most people will be expecting this. Anyone looking just to chat that day can use a backup cc.
Neutral - Unless you can get C Teng to come on and stay in the CC to change it from only ranked to talk then anyone after even has started (and a intermission between events to make it go smoothly), you might as well stay in the RSWIKIA CC, albeit Mark will have to switch out on accounts if this is how the community wants it to be. Oppose - The reason it was so confusing last time was because of the page it said R S Wikia, but at the very last minute someone decided that it should be a different clan chat, which had been a good idea, had it been planned previously. C Teng isn't very active much any more, I kind of doubt he'll be able to attend. rswiki, however, is controlled by Mark, and as he will be attending the fest it will only take seconds to do any adjustments (like making it so only ranked people may talk) The different chat would be easier to control and more orderly. — Enigma 06:44, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
- Wait, you're saying that during the fest you going to set the CC so that only ranked users can talk? Really? 09:26, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Support - I only made it the other one cause it's what we used last fest and I didn't want users in the chat not attending the fest to be spammed by fest stuff, but I think it's what is right. I opposed the change in the first place.

Strong oppose - Per Enigma. There's always waaaaaay too much spam and confusion, and making it so that only ranks can talk during the Costume Contest would be extremely helpful. Also, I doubt C Teng will be attending so it will be difficult to regulate the chat properly. ~ Sentry Telos Talk 06:04, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
Strong oppose - Please, do consider Enigma's points. Gone. 18:43, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
Oppose My reason for opposing is very simple. There will be people (even regular wikians) who will not be attending wikifest, and they should have a community clan chat that is a fest-free zone. I know it's only a few hours four times a year, but IMHO people should have the right to go about their normal RuneScape business if the fest does not interest them. This is quite apart from Enigma's very good point above. Leevclarke talk 14:30, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
Request for closure - The Wikifest is now over.23:04, November 14, 2009 (UTC)
Closed - The 2009 Autumn Wikifest is over, and I believe the R S Wikia clan chat was used. If there are users who want changes made to forthcoming wikifests, please propose changes in a new YG topic (preferably a bit earlier). Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 00:47, November 15, 2009 (UTC)
