Our articles on groups/classes of things currently use a mix of singular and plural forms in their titles. Here's a selection of inconsistencies (absolutely disgusting):

Singular Plural
dye
herb
potions
unfinished potion
combination potions
jadinko
dinosaur
soporith moths
trices
slayer master
slayer monsters
weapon
fun weapon
crush weapons
thrown weapons
staff
battlestaves
team cape
god capes
milestone capes
cape of accomplishment
capes of distinction
shop
axe shop
archery shops
general store
farming shops
crafting shop
sword shops

We have three options:

  1. Change them to use all singular
  2. Change them to use all plural
  3. Do nothing

Wikipedia policy is to use plural form for classes, which is the option I prefer. Some benefits to using plural:

  • the title immediately tells you what kind of article it is — no need to guess "is [[Crossbow]] the page for the wooden item or the weapon type?"
  • separate spellings means fewer parentheticals like [[Dwarf (race)]] needed to disambiguate titles, and less time spent looking up the exact title when you need to link it

Just to be clear, this thread doesn't apply to articles that aren't groups of things; everything else (items, places, NPCs, etc.) should already be covered by our "use its in-game name" policy.

Plurals - I'll start with making all nouns in this sentences plurals to really bring homes the points and the importances of making all of the pages on the wikis plurals. Status quo - as a protest against the massive amounts of inconsistencyscape we should keep things as is until Jagex fixes their stuff ingame. But actually plurals cause they're groups. --LiquidTalk 09:45, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Plural - The fact it is in the Wikipedia policy is a really convincing argument for me. The added benefits mentioned are also a nice to have! Sir Veylantz (talk) 10:42, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

We're not Wikipedia though so our policies can be different. ;) Farming-icon.png Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 11:21, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh, definitely! I didn't mean to imply we are or should follow their policies blindly. I found merit in why Wikipedia made their decision as such. But, thank you for linking to that statement that we're not Wikipedia. It is very relevant to the topic, given it was brought up as a point for plural. Sir Veylantz (talk) 04:38, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Plural - It just makes sense; it's a collection of things, not just one thing. --Legaia2Pla · ʟ · 14:52, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Closed - Pages for groups/classes of things will be titled plurarly. --Legaia2Pla · ʟ · 03:35, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
