Hello. Not too long ago, I realised that many of the users browsing the Wiki are not aware of the Graphical improvements article, and would not know where to go if they were looking for past images of characters in the game. Thus, I would like to propose that a template (similar to [[Template:WP also]]) be created and placed on all of the relevant articles.

Wikipedia has an article about: PAGENAME Graphical improvements has an entry on: PAGENAME

Naturally, this will cover all the entries in Graphical improvements and Graphical improvements/Animations. For those who are interested, the original discussion that proposed the creation of these pages can be found at Forum:Old images.

Seeing as this change is quite large, affecting hundreds of articles, I thought it would be good to bring this to the Yew Grove and seek the community's opinion. Any criticisms or suggestions for improvement are welcome. Thanks. C.ChiamTalk 13:09, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Support - as proposer. C.ChiamTalk 13:09, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Sounds good to me! =D Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 13:16, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Weak Oppose - What's the point of doing this? I'd rather put the new image and old image together on the article, the old image having a caption stating that it's the old form. bad_fetustalk 13:34, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

The images were often placed at awkward parts of the article, and the articles didn't look good formatting-wise. The previous discussion mentions it in more detail. C.ChiamTalk 13:38, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Then we should have different pages for all the images, such as Graphical improvements/Fire Giant, because that page is way too long right now, and is likely to cause lag. bad_fetustalk 13:43, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Articles for each set of images is unnecessary, considering that it would only be 2 images (in most cases). Someone has proposed a split of the article into Monsters, Areas/Scenery, etc, on the talkpage however. C.ChiamTalk 13:48, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
That's still too long. However, we could seperate them the way here. bad_fetustalk 13:52, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Makes sense. ajr 13:46, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Alternate Proposal

Suggestion - I have to agree with Chess here. The Graphical Improvements page is just going to get longer and longer, even if it is split up. How about placing old and new images in small galleries at the bottoms of the relevant articles? Galleries are organized and are used nicely in several articles (most notably quest articles) to avoid messy placement of images. This doesn't mean we have to get rid of the Graphical Improvements page though. I guess there are people who can handle the lag and find the page useful. We could still use the template for readers who are curious enough to look at more graphical improvements after seeing a gallery in an article.  Tien  14:43, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

I support Tien's suggestion. bad_fetustalk 20:40, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Support Tien's suggestion also. I do think having history on item images is a little overboard and unnecessary, especially when the previous images are available in the file history. I can understand that it would be helpful to keep them there if the image had been majorly updated at some point in the past, but anyone that cares to see the minor pixel edits probably knows to click on the image anyways. Support Tien's alternate proposal. - Sounds like a good idea to me. Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 11:06, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Personally, I see no place for out-dated images on their respective articles. They just seem out of place no matter where you put them. Unfortunately, I have no other alternative idea, except a previously suggested motion to split them into separate articles split by type of image. We will just have to finely balance how specialised each article is. 222 talk 07:34, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

It is part of the game engine/graphical history. No other fansite has this, and it is quite interesting to see these things. Jagex once tweeted our article to all their followers. Chicken7 >talk 12:30, August 11, 2010 (UTC)
