Hello, again today i bring you another forum about changing the wiki, i do post them, as i like to make sure that the ideas are alowed on wiki, and not ruin everyone viewing, so simply today it about updating old templates, some of them are just basic text, and it can be very hard to notice, i have upgrade the Template:HasStrategy already, as it was basic text, here how it looks now:

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/messaging/images//6/68/Login.png This article has a strategy guide
This article has a strategy guide here.

i would like to do this more on the wiki, but before i do it more, i would like to ask you, would you like changes to old templates to make them, more easy to see, here another example of what i mean:

so put it simply, shall we update old templates to make them more like this...well not all this color, this is default color, so what you viewers think? --

Discussion

Comment - I've undone the edits to the HasStrategy template, as this was a really big change and it would be better to have this discussion first before changing it. Because of that, some of the proposal may be inaccurate now. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 13:46, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

It was quite a minor change when put into perspective. I do wonder whether or not it would have been reversed so soon if someone else had updated it. Ronan Talk 16:44, February 20, 2012 (UTC)
If they would have created a thread directly after, yes. I just undid because I noticed it then, which was because of this thread. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 21:57, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - I think we shouldn't make those notices too big. People are usually looking for the page they've ended up at, and if they aren't, almost all of them will know there is a template at the top most of the time that will tell them what page the article they might have meant is. I don't think it's really good to bother people who are actually looking for the page they are on with huge boxes like that. Also, it is very impractical to change the template for which you used the firemaking training guide as example, as that would mean we'd have to update all of the usages, and add a fitting image to all of them. Too much work for something that's not helping, in my opinion. Also, the image you used for the strategy guide box totally doesn't fit at all. What does a hand on a keyboard have to do with a strategy guide for Pest Control? JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 13:51, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Support for a more compact version of HasStrategy, oppose other - I do like the idea of first proposal, and if you can remove the bolded title (which is repeated diretly below it) and perhaps find a smaller, more suitable image, I can find no notable fault with it. I do however oppose the latter suggestion, largely per Mr. Tje50. Ronan Talk 16:41, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Support more compact version of first; support second - The italic text tends to get lost in the "see also" text. However, {{HasStrategy}} is a bit big and the repetition would be better off gone. Seriously, though, worried about huge boxes taking people's eye from the page? What about {{Cleanup}}? It's big and colourful, yet the regular users don't give a darn about us needing to do some cleanup. So, yeah, compact the first because the repitition looks bad, but the second is good in my book, as long as it detects the page and changes the icon thusly (it should only appear on skill pages, and all skills have an existing icon of the perfect size). Neutral both - They could use a touch up but either way, I am fine with. Hair 04:46, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - The second one only needs a line of text, a box would just take up useless space at the top of the page. The first one doesn't look any better, especially with the colour scheme and our theme. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 06:20, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose all - Boxes at the top of the page — especially when there are more than one, take up space and push the page's contents lower down the page. 222 talk 06:55, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - I don't really like your version of the strategy template, sorry. I liked before how RuneScape pics are used as it makes it seem more "RuneScape-y". For the firemaking one, too big. We don't need a huge template to say lines of text which aren't related to the page itself. Comment - It is worth pointing out that I'd be willing to wager a fair bit that many viewers of skill articles want to know how to train the skill; most viewers of monster articles want to know how to kill the monster; and most viewers of minigame articles want to know how to play the minigame (well). Yes, the boxes take up a lot of space, but so do pretty much all of our maintenance templates. The difference is that most people actually want the content of the boxes. If Cave Johnson decided he wants to learn how to whoop butt at Conquest, I'm sure that strategies template at the top, which will catch his eye like a blazing portal gun on full auto, is exactly what he wants. And if he's one of those who doesn't want the strategy guide, no big loss, just a box, we got lots of boxes, he's already looking at the big map on the page which is way more eye-catchy and actually totally useless since it doesn't actually tell where on the island conquest is. Hofmic Talk 07:33, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose both - They're both a bit excessive, the HasStrategy one, I can see the point of the image but I don't think it's necessarily what is best, and they could both just as easily be served with text What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 00:50, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose Both - I don't really like too many boxes at the beginning of an article. They push the text down and look bad. ɳex undique 01:01, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

Closed - There is no consensus to change the template. --LiquidTalk 03:44, February 29, 2012 (UTC)
