Yes it me again, and yet another yew grove, this one will blow you mind, as i would like to ask for your support on adding something called a "Tabber" tabbers are tab that use js, verry small but mega useful, i ran it buy the clan today, they loved it! but before i go any Further i would like to have support to allow this type of stuff more on the wiki, as if i just added them, they most likely to removed, so there no much to explain about them, but there can be many uses around the wiki to tidy it up, aswel as bring some fun to wiki, they can store multi data on a single page, and make a page smaller, well to give you the full example i provided the Zimberfizz Page Below for you to try:

Zimberfizz chathead.png
Zimberfizz is the imp minion of Nomad. He is found in the Soul Wars lobby and appears during the tutorial. He's also the starting point for the Grandmaster Quest, Nomad's Requiem. You can exchange Zeal points with Zimberfizz

The player must kill him (twice) in the Soul Wars tutorial, when he will hit very fast zeros on the player. He has 100 Life Points. He will drop one soul fragment when killed. He is then teleported back into existence by Nomad.

During the tutorial, after the player has been killed by Nomad , they can return to the soul obelisk and have a conversation with Zimberfizz. It is revealed that Nomad has a high Hunter level (at least 71) as he had caught Zimberfizz via magic box . Nomad also actually built the soul obelisk, as Zimberfizz states that he had to carry the materials to the site. It is also revealed that Nomad "certainly knows his way around slayer monsters, too".

After Nomad's Requiem, Zimberfizz acts as a replacement for Nomad, as well as adopting a new appearance, with a Top hat.

Postbag from the Hedge

In the Chaos Elemental's 13th letter, in Postbag from the Hedge 41, there is a paper which has "Hardens South" written on it. That is an anagram for "Use Shorthand" and the text appears to be written in Teeline Shorthand. The translation is "Uv b wd abt Sl Ws. Nmd is tb frd." Transcribed it says, "You've been warned about Soul Wars. Nomad is to be feared." This makes sense since in the included postbag, we are told that Nomad knows where the souls go and Zimberfizz says "I can see it on his mug." Along with the other clues, it seems that Nomad could be eating the souls or storing them for his evil scheme. The cryptic note in the suitcase confirms this.

On the same "Hardens South" paper, on the bottom right cornner we see "zzz" and a squiggle in parentheses. If the squiggle is in teeline, it makes up the outline for IMP. This means that zzz probably stands for Zimberfizz as there are 3 Z's in his name and he is an imp (translates to zimberfizz(imp)). Zimberfizz is Nomad's familiar imp and is also the one who writes to us in the postbag.

Trivia

  • Before the release of Nomad's Requiem, Nomad would kill Zimberfizz every five seconds or so.
Zimberfizz would reappear moments later, saying something like "I hate it when he does that!". Zimberfizz could also be attacked by players.
  • After the completion of Nomad's Requiem, Zimberfizz will greet you with, "Wotcha, guv'na!"
  • Zimberfizz uses various Portuguese slang when speaking.
  • During the tutorial of Soul Wars, when you are required to kill Zimberfizz, he can hit you as fast as (and possibly even faster than) Commander Zilyana.
  • Zimberfizz is one of the four interact-able imps, aside from the snow imps found in the Land of Snow, an imp-in-a-box and banner carrier.

Other Places it can be used:

  • Court Cases - have tabs to find the case, kinda like a file, think how fun that could be. just like the game =)

the uses for this can be never ending, it be very useful for pages needed to be split. im thinking of adding it to Court Case Page soon, think how useful it could be! so, would u like to support this? just leave your comments and stuff below, thanks

It will only be used on Minor Pages, Pages with 2x data, just like Zimberfizz, not everywhere.

as i said, it be used little, just for pages that need it. here some of them.

Main Uses:

  • Npc that change
  • Pages with multi things
  • Pages that need Splitting

Changed to Slight oppose per Gaz, Ryan, and Evil below. Wicid13 20:57, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral - I raised this concern when Parson first mentioned this (in the CC) - it relies entirely on javascript. Thus, if your javascript is disabled by whatever reason then no content appears. For the Zimberfizz page this removes the first section and infobox, arguably the most important parts of the article - we shouldn't force users to turn JS on when they don't want it on. So its usage in this case is poor, to me. Though it does seem useful and I would like to see if it can be used in a way which won't disrupt users with JS off. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 20:24, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

We might add something like "do you have Javascript enabled? Yes, No. The Yes shows the tabber, the no shows one of the tabs and suggests checking the other page about it. It would work like i used here. (unless that also uses js =D) JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 17:31, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Are you implying that you don't care about what effect the change has? Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 23:43, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Strong oppose - Per Gaz, it certainly hurts the wiki way more if it relies on javascript. Also, I see completely no reasons why this is needed. bad_fetustalk 20:28, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Looks excellent, <tabber> is one of the most useful tags around yet it doesn't see much use at all. This will work very well when used in applications just like the example given above. --Callofduty4 20:30, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Change to Neutral - Second thoughts - while it looks good, it would be a lot of work to introduce it to every article that could effectively use it, and it would increase page loading times. --Callofduty4 21:29, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Requires JavaScript to function. The Wikia skin takes long enough to load due to it being almost entirely run by jquery, it doesn't need to be added to. The time it takes to load this "tabber" doesn't help that all the information could just be added to the bottom. When the JS doesn't load, the "tabs" collide further limiting the reading area in the Wikia skin. If you want to add this "tabber", why not include all the pages separated previously by RS:G? I mean there isn't going to be much of a case to have that policy when we can just put them in one article now is it? Ryan PM 20:32, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Strong oppose - This would make articles a lot more bigger than needed, as you showed with Zimberfizz, it went from 3,739 bytes to 5,106 bytes, a huge unnecessary amount. The wiki takes long enough to load without every page being increased a ton just so you can use a tab to change a small amount of information. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 20:42, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Strong oppose - This doubles the amount of work that our editors have to do for little benefit. I should mention that it's difficult to spot vandalism on the version that you're not looking at. Furthermore, as Gaz mentioned, this relies on Javascript, which is not universally used or accepted. --LiquidTalk 21:25, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - It's nice for stupid little things like userpages, but we should not use it in mainspace. ʞooɔ 21:30, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - The code is too complex for mainspace articles, per all. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 23:43, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Support - It could also help articles like Skeleton so you can have each level on 1 page, with different tabs. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 23:52, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - While it's potential uses are good, in a perfect world. But not everyone uses javascript and we shouldn't force them to. This would also increase page sizes and thus loading times and well as making it much more difficult for new editors or anons to correctly edit a page. 222 talk 00:02, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Conditional Support - This really looks good, but as stated by many users, if one doesn't use javascript, they shouldn't be forced to use it. Couldn't we alter the <tabber> tab on this wiki so it doesn't but with javascript? As for the page lenght, honestly, since it isn't bigger when editing, who cares? The only limitation in size (unless it's 1GB or something...) is the text editor, no? Since a mere few bytes are used for the tabber tags, I can't see why the size of the page is that important. I mean, it's not like most computers today have problems loading 5 kb on their internet connection? And if they do have some trouble, it's not like they wouldn't have problems loading a 3.5kb page... Quest point cape.pngTalk Newbie856 edit count Nomad guideMusic icon.png 01:15, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

As a side note, I strongly oppose mass-spaming the use of this tag. The Zimberfizz article was a good example, so are court cases, but if we start adding this to every single article, it will just become useless and annoying. I think that if we implement this we should have a policy for when to add and when not to add tabbers to stop edit wars, something like to add it only if the object/thing/location/NPC/quest has a greatly visible change (which would make the page too long if added after the original form of the object/thing...) after a task is done or when too much information concerning too many different subjects are on one page (like court cases) would seem sensible to me. Quest point cape.pngTalk Newbie856 edit count Nomad guideMusic icon.png 01:22, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

The problem is the size of two articles in one, not the <tabber></tabber> stuff. --Iiii I I I 01:17, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Ooh, I see what you mean. Wouldn't it be possible to reuse part of the first the in the second one by using one of the many wiki tags or a new template? Quest point cape.pngTalk Newbie856 edit count Nomad guideMusic icon.png 01:25, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe - like

Nomad is a non-player character who wanders around the Soul Wars activity area. When players first arrive on the island, they will encounter Nomad and his imp familiar, Zimberfizz. Nomad will offer players...

Conditional support - This looks good, but we need to find a fail-safe for users who do not have JS, per gaz. --Aburnett(Talk) 21:01, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I reckon a template incorporating the <tabber> and <noscript> tags could be used for that? Unless the latter doesn't exist on wikis in which case I guess one would have to fiddle around with mediawiki. A template could even have text it says in all tabs, which would cut down on the size of the page significantly. Quest point cape.pngTalk Newbie856 edit count Nomad guideMusic icon.png 21:29, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Comment about javascript - The tabber is designed so that if javascript is turned off the tabs are just displayed one after the other - the only information lost is the tab title. Whilst this is impractical for merging articles such as the zimberfizz example, it is actually practical to use in smaller cases across the wiki, such as as seen at Update hints.

I should also point out that the problem with the infobox overlapping could be solved with a simple clear tag.

On a side note, would a tab for zimberfizz style articles be possible in a similar fashion to "my home", where the tab actually works as a link rather than hosted on the page. --Henneyj 01:38, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Emphatic oppose - This doesn't really do anything useful, it just (in some people's opinion) looks neat. It accomplishes nothing that otheruses doesn't also do, and otheruses can be used by all users, not just by those with javascript. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 01:50, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Conditional Support - I will support only if there is a good way to provide the information to users with Javascript disabled. Also, to those users who are saying it accomplishes nothing other than looking cool, I disagree - I find the visual interface far easier to understand. I think that one of the wiki's biggest problems right now (and one that will be even worse with Oasis) is a lack of intuitive ways to view information. To me, at least, this would help with that, so long as it's used sensibly. I'm a regular user and I approve this message.  TLUL Talk - Contribs 06:52, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Request for closure - Discussion has died, pretty clear consensus. HaloTalk 01:04, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
