About this you know how events are set up in runescape clients and such. (Not talking about bots) like for example swift kit. Well There is this one i was thinking of doing. And i would be happy to volunteer to make these copies for the events team is the events importing for swiftkit.

Swift kits create event tool

I was wondering if i can supply import links for events hub for swiftkit imports for each event listed in the events section of the wikia. It really does no harm at all. All it is is information import Swift kit also has a reminder tool for the time and date of the events...

If anyone knows swiftkit can you help explain how it works as its very hard to explain even though its a simple tool

Here is the treasure trails import i made as an example. This must be imported to swiftkit or it won't load. it does not load as a webpage << copy and paste into events hub here is a link for how it works

Discussion[edit source]

I don't think you need permission to enter our events into the swiftkit event scheduling device, though if you wanted us to include a link to any swiftkit resources on the events page or anything, then that would be a different matter altogether. In that case, you'd have to say what links you suggest adding and where. Basically if we don't have to do or add anything to our pages, there's no need for us to approve. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 23:50, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Weak neutral/Strong comment - What Psycho said. Per RS:PRIAR. --LiquidTalk 00:46, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

comment - Yes i need permission because i was thinking maybe a external link section for instructions on importing. and one for the event import link itself under the thing instead of parsing that link its in a code box like this << This is not a real link as it would be to the swiftkit site not some random one like this. Plus it is not parsed because its under code

The reason is that if you open a import link it will display an message stating how to import it but will not give details through the link only importing it... I don't know how to explain it well. Could you make a test under a sandbox and link me to it and ill show you it. well i will try then ill take images upload to like photobucket or something and show you what i mean? Please make a sandbox under mines then if its not gonna stick there. My userpage should link to it. I give permission. Also keep it the regular layout of a real event. Just put fake info or something. I really have to show to explain what i mean. Unless you understand already? Coaster4321 Talk # Sign GG 17:10, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Forget the whole idea i know how i can implement without need for permission. Every wikia page has a talk page. Ill just put links in talk page of every event to a swiftkit version of the event. Or do i need permission for that too? Well I don't know Ill have to see what i can do...Coaster4321 Talk # Sign GG 17:12, February 7, 2011 (UTC)
Linking to RSW is fine, but linking from RSW to the something outside needs permission. So yeah, you'll need approval. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 17:49, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

For the sake of clarity, I would reccomend creating User:Coaster4321/sandbox, copying the code of whatever Events page you want to add the link to, then add the link in your sandbox version of the page. Then we could all see exactly what you're talking about. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 18:56, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

The page is made to be an example.
this is like the forum code that is generated from the event maker on the swiftkit events hub

So under external links it would look like this but i removed the image. because its not displaying it as an image.
MY Example page under sandbox on userpage
We don't even need to just add swift kit only we could add other event tools if we know any?

I don't think adding external links like that to our pages would be a good idea, for a number of reasons. 1, it looks tacky. 2, I don't support SwiftKit, it's third party software and though you can't get in trouble for using it, Jagex doesn't advertise it, so why should we? 3. It seems kind of redundant to put a link to events on SwiftKit when you're already on the events page. <.< Correct me if I'm interpreting this wrong. I think your correct. Well i know what I'll do. since i don't want what you say to happen. To not promote advertising. Ill just list events in my userpage as i always have done before although i have'nt listed any for quite a while. Maybe make a section of wikia event hub imports of swift kit under my space then... People want it they gotta search it ;) they will find it i bet it Can i close this? Coaster4321 Talk # Sign GG 01:53, February 11, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - My only concern with this would be that it would be like we're singling out and supporting swiftkit, as if we were affiliated with them or something. On the whole I have no issue with adding a link in the manner you described (but no image) but only if it would be ok for anyone else to add information on their event scheduler. And that presents a different problem, because if we allowed anyone to do it, then there'd be a huge list of people who don't really care about our wiki or the events, but just want to use those pages as a method of free advertising. Can you think of any way to stop that sort of abuse of the system? kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 21:17, February 11, 2011 (UTC)

No clue but i think maybe a moderator list. Not with special privs just a list of users who will check these links i guess? I am not entirely sure.. I have no clue on how to effectively moderate the links to the official wikia event import. Because yea the links are auto generated on creation. And in the link itself does not tell what event it is... So yea could be a problem.. Coaster4321 Talk # Sign GG 00:33, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Closed Proposer will pursue an alternate idea.--Degenret01 09:14, February 12, 2011 (UTC)
