It's time to sunset our IRC. It's pretty much completely dead now, and we use Discord exclusively, so it no longer makes sense for us to have links to it on the wiki. It's also being hit by spam bots pretty often, which forced us to require identification to connect.
I'm not really proposing deleting the channel (is that even possible?) despite nobody using it, but we should remove (or archive) RuneScape:Off-site/IRC and remove links to it on the wiki.
- I know that RuneScape:CheckUser does. For the most part, we link to it alongside Discord, but if it's unused we should stop linking to it and acting like it's active (e.g on RuneScape:Community Portal, RuneScape:Off-site) jayden 12:27, August 4, 2018 (UTC)

Archive - Not sure if it is possible to delete the channel, but we could make it inactive by removing all bots/users/putting a header message redirecting everyone to discord. Put the archive template on RS:IRC similar to what we have on RS:CHAT (along with a small paragraph saying while it still exists no one uses it).
I'd like to take this moment as well to say that S:C > IRC because of our lit interface - RIP. Haidro 23:03, August 4, 2018 (UTC)
Archive page, leave channel as is - Although I still find the channel useful thanks to tybot and runescript, many of the random people who end up there - those who are perhaps not the regular wikians - to ask questions do not. Most are either not replied to or are redirected to Discord. That said, I see no reason to shut down the IRC channel despite its inactivity. Often it's my only tie back to the ongoings of rswiki since I do not frequent Discord, and is in fact how I became aware of this forum.
I would like to make an additional comment on the spambots: they've been attacking the entire network for about a week now, and not singling out #rswiki. The dedication of the attacker is astonishing, frankly. Pikachu lv95 (talk) 01:11, August 5, 2018 (UTC)

What fetus said -
Support - the channel is no longer being used and discord is much more popular. It doesn't make sense to advertise it as a place to go for people who are looking for help/an active chat. The channel should be shut down, or if that is not possible/people still want to use it should remain as an unofficial thing and should not be advertised as one of our community features anymore.11:57, August 5, 2018 (UTC)
Support - IRC is still a thing?04:52, August 6, 2018 (UTC)
Comment - Another place it would need to be removed from is RFA, btw. --03:00, August 7, 2018 (UTC)
