I assume it's going to happen this year, so I moved the thread. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 05:52, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds great, I'll definatly come, If you need any help with anything just ask Swiz Talk Review Me 12:04, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I'll come, but instead of a fun day of activities, it seems more like a chore now. I think the coming wikifest needs some variety rather than the same schedule we followed every year. I may put my hand up to help with planning in this one. I also have an idea/suggestion. Previous fests, keeping order and communicating schedules and announcements during the fests had been a problem. What about we mute the CC, and use it as a communication medium by organisers and admins. For those of you saying "awwwwwww, how will we talk?!?!?", when you get to the fest location, there will be heaps of people there you can talk to in public. And those of you saying "how will I get details from other users' or ask questions?!?!?!", you can use a thing called private chat. My 2 cents. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 12:31, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Yes, very sensible. ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  04:51, February 16, 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion - Per above about same schedule. Why don't we do a raid? Strong hold of security or Player safety looks nice. Or we can always exterminate the Goblins and end their war forever? Maybe go into the wilderness at the Hobgoblin mine and kill hobgoblins there and an occasional revenant that wonders by? Santa hat.png Powers38 おはようヾ(´・ω・`) 12:34, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

We call it Winter 'Fest '11 or Autumn 'Fest '10? Seems pretty logical to me. --HaloTalk 04:52, February 16, 2010 (UTC)
I know this is random but I think Wiktoberfest would be a fun name for the later fest if we happen to time it right. </random diversion> Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 10:05, February 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hmmmm, I like Tollerach's idea, "wikitoberfest" sounds great. Jack Spirall

Suggestion What if we did PvP hide and go seek in some area pkers seldom visit. Each participant could only carry a few items provided to them, a dagger, crossbow, and bronze bolts, and a cape. We could have different coloured capes for the hunter and the hunted. Jack Spiral1

If the chosen time does not work for you.

Because we are spread all around the world some people will not be able to go, it is that simple. We can't change it, that is reality at work. If we try to move the time back and forth to accommodate people we will be cutting off others. A time will be chosen to allow as many wikians as possible to attend. If that time fails for you, get with others who also can not make that time, then set a second part of the fest for those people. Of course all others will be welcome, but the time for the second part should be set for those who couldn't make the first one.--Degenret01 10:47, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Wait, why do the times occur in March or April? I thought this was the WINTER Wikifest. Might I remind you that meterological winter ends on February 28, and astronomical winter ends on March 20? Most of those dates would better be called the Spring Wikifest 2010. --LiquidTalk 21:39, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Conflict, gah - After reading about Bonus XP weekend, I though to myself, "Gee I hope this doesn't fall on the same weekend as the wikifest". Sure enough, I come over to look at the poll and I see that weekend in the lead by far. Oh noez. I think that if these two events happen at the same time, we might see a big loss in attendance of the Wikifest because people might want to spend their RS time skilling. I think we could handle this one of three ways

  1. Force Jagex to change the date, through blackmail or hacking (lol)
  2. Disclude (is that a word?) that weekend from the running
  3. Let them fall on the same weekend, and hope for the best

Personally, I like option 1 (again lol), but seriously I'd lean for option 2 except that most of the votes are for that weekend. Again, oh noez Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 10:01, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Removing that week (2) seems like the better option. Why would you be playing hide and seek when you could be getting 2.7x summoning experience?? Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 10:07, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

I strongly support removing the double xp weekend one, due to it currently effecting my choice to go. I can also safely say many wikians will have trouble choosing to go for extra xp or a wikifest if that's picked. Comment - I wanted to see if I could leave the wikifest for a bit to some other community members but it appears that it didn't move along as fast as it could have. I'm willing to come back full force and make this event a go, but I'd like to start over new and get a clean slate, if you guys are wanting that? Let me know what you guys think.

I think there needs to be some solid ideas, and not heaps and heaps of discussion. The downfall of these wikifests has always been either slow planning/running out of time for planning. And/or the confusion over where we are going and what is happening. In future planning, I advise instead of asking for ideas, the planners just straight out say what is planned, and organise these things in real-time (in-game, IRC, MSN, whatever). Discussions on a forum like this can drag on forever. And I suggested the idea somewhere above to mute the whole cc, and use it specifically for announcements and important notices. I was going to put my hand up to help run this one, but it just seemed like it wasn't going to work. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 05:18, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
I think I ran the last 4 wiki-fest's. This yew grove is not the proper medium for it, yes. I think the forum is better and to hard press it to a schedule is important, but I'd like to see the communities ideas and feedback, as I've done before, before pressing an event that will represent them based solely on my ideas. I promise a wikifest in 1 months time, so be it the wiki will allow me to resume control of the fest and to start over. 06:12, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

SiteNotice

A problem we have faced with what would have been the Winter fest is that we did not get the word out as effectively as we could. Perhaps adding something to the SiteNotice? Another problem we have faced in the past is that it has been to blaring, so we toned it down. In my opinion, we toned it down more than we needed to. I created something I hope is somewhere in the middle. It's just a concept, so the colours are not perfect. I chose green and brown because I associate spring with earthy greeness, though I am willing to part with that specific combination.

Actually, I was thinking we should let Stelercus run this 'Fest. He expressed intrest in assisting me via PM, but I think he would be a great organiser and should take charge. He's done a great job on the RSWP and I'm sure he could create an excellent wikifest. ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  23:56, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Date

Because we have not had a lot of time to plan (not since things got going), and the date is this Saturday (and the fact that I may not be able to be there Saturday. It truly upsets me to impose this on the community because of my own schedule, but I cannot effectively run the fest if I cannot attend. It's not within my control), I propose we move it to April. Now, you may be saying "What?! This will be a repetition of last time, the fest will be in the summer before long", but we can merge the wikifest with The Golden Quill awards being given out for the Wiki Post. This would require that submissions to the post be temporally closed so that all the submissions from this year can be judged (it would add complication to the system if more submissions from this year where being judged, as the awards are to celebrate one year of the RSWP) and then announced at a ceremony during the fest. I would recommend we pick between the 17th and the 24th to avoid complications with Easter, see poll below. If we do not like the idea of merging it with the awards, we can do it later in March.

The 20th, yes? I cannot find anything that clearly says the date in this thread or the archive (other than the time table above). I do not appear to have any conflicts with the time of day the fest is at, but I do plan to find somebody (I am not sure if it should be Bonzii, who I would ask to be a back-up if he didn't retire recently. I will ask him and others about this.). I guess we will have to work harder to get things pulled together by then, so I would like the previously mentioned addition to the site-notice be added in the proposed colorful format. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 22:00, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
Yea, I was looking for the date for about 5 minutes yesterday. Instead of being formal can you be clear? You want what exactly added to the sitenotice? And yea, I would not look to Bonz at this time.--Degenret01 22:21, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Bonzi. As for the sitenotice, I was thinking of something that looks like this:

SiteNotice last updated on 9 December 2014

Flowers (mixed).png

The Spring Wikifest will be in insert countdown timer here! See the discussion page for more details.

It balances the vibrant look of past countdown timers that where unpopular for being too large with a more simplistic look like the sitenotice, per reasons listed above. This should hopefully light a fire under other users to get involved in the discussion and show up to the fest itself. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 00:21, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Sitenotice up and timer running, hope it is correct. If you have an actual list of at least a few of the people who will be at each event maybe you can appoint your deputies now. I would suggest people who have been to several of them as it should help. And I am glad Bonz will stick around for this one he has much experience.--Degenret01 01:57, March 17, 2010 (UTC)
