Hi all, I've noticed that some AWB accounts also have the rollback right, due to their owners having rollback. This is not only unneeded, but I strongly oppose this. There is absolutely no reason for an awb account to be rollbacking edits, ever. I propose that only sysop rights be transfered to AWB accounts, if the owner has those rights. Rollback and bureaucrat should not be also applied to the AWB accounts. Please discuss. ajr 02:13, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Support limiting additional rights for AWB accounts to sysop - As nominator. ajr 02:13, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - The reason that I recommended users ask for rollback is that they may need to move pages and such. Therefore, they would need noratelimits. I agree that meaningful wiki stuff should be done on the main account, but sometimes, there's no time to log out and back in before the vandal has done an excessive amount of damage; therefore, rollback has its (very limited) practical purposes. --LiquidTalk 02:15, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Have you even bothered to check? Noratelimits is included in the bots group. Special:ListGroupRights ajr 02:15, September 24, 2010 (UTC)
I have not. :O --LiquidTalk 02:17, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral - Okay, so my principle reason was wrong because I'm not proficient in wiki code. However, rollback is not a planned tool, so, as much as I dislike things like that done under a bot flag, I'm willing to put up with it, as vandals aren't going to be nice and attack when people are on their main accounts. --LiquidTalk 02:17, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

I proposed this because of the possibility of the rollback tool being abused, and nobody would be able to see it (except those who view the RC with bot edits). Someone could literally rollback thousands of edits and nobody would even notice it until after. That is why I proposed this. Oh, also, I think that it is best if reverts stayed so that they are easily seen. Then everyone knows if vandalism has been reverted, or not. ajr 02:19, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Support - When someone uses an awb they can be browsing the wiki with their main account anyways. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 02:38, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Question Why are sysop tools transferred? If people can AWB while their main is browsing.-- Degen says Unban TLUL  03:55, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Things like mass deleting pages is the biggest one that comes to mind, and that one is used on occasion. Also, Phycho's AWB account has been mass protecting some high traffic pages. Other than that, AWB accounts don't really need sysop. ajr 03:58, September 24, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that sysop tools aren't that necessary, but at least its a tiny bit logical. People will never rollback with their awb accounts because they don't browse there recent changes or anything with it. By the way, after having protected 366 pages with AWB, its really not that much faster than doing it manually. Oh well. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 04:10, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Support-ish - Yeah they can't use it but removing it is just another log. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 04:04, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Conditional Support - I think noratelimit should be removed from rollback and added to maintenance if it is made. HaloTalk 04:34, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Let's not get into that here, please. Wink Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 04:50, September 24, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not getting into it... HaloTalk 04:56, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Support - only if you're sure that noratelimits is in the bot group. There really isn't a point in rollback for AWB bots. 222 talk 06:39, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Pretty dang sure. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 06:50, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - AWB accounts can only have sysop tools (and only sysop tools) copied over from the main account. --LiquidTalk 20:35, September 26, 2010 (UTC)
