Doucher4000 had suggested in Talk:RuneScape Wiki that we reduce the number of links in the [[Template:Popular articles|Popular Articles column]] in the Main Page. It has not been updated in a while, and a few links point to discontinued features in our wiki ("Polls" > RuneScape:Interest - Typical Player; "Adventure Tales", etc.)

There are 3 options:

  1. Do nothing
  2. Revise - Remove some links from the current template, but keep it in the Main Page.
  3. Revise and Move - Remove the template altogether; and incorporate the revised "Popular articles" into MediaWiki:Sidebar (Monobook skin) and [[MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar]] (Monaco skin).

By revising the template, we can:

  • Reduce link redundancy in the Monaco skin.
  • Remove links that are no longer "popular".

If the "Revise and Move" option is chosen, the "Featured Image" (FIMG) section can be moved to where the "Popular articles" is located. Although the current location is okay in wide screen resolution (1440x900), I've noticed recently that for smaller-width screens (800x600 or 1280×1080), the FIMG template overlaps with "Article of the Month". I'm not sure if this affects most wikians, but it is a problem that needs sorting out.
