The ring of wealth update has changed the way some monsters drop charms. The biggest example I currently know of is hellhounds; look at this. You'd never have seen those drop rates on hellhounds prior to the update. This means that the old data is obsolete, and will, in fact, inaccurately skew the charm drop rates.

Proposal: For each monster whose charm drop rates are affected by the ring of wealth update, delete the old logs and start fresh.

However, I've noticed a couple complications. If these new charm drop rates only apply with a ring of wealth equipped, then the old drop rates are (presumably) still in use when a ring of wealth is not equipped. One idea is to use a separate charm log for ring of wealth charms, but you can't guarantee accuracy because players would have to keep the ring of wealth on for the entire task. Additionally, you couldn't count on random editors to not accidentally update one log with information for the other. These complications are why I've made this thread.

Discuss. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 16:55, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Separate Ring of Wealth logs from normal logs - The old data still applies; there isn't a good reason to remove it. But, we have a separate set of data that we need to add now. With sufficient warnings, confusion shouldn't be too big of an issue. We just need to be very clear about what to put where. --LiquidTalk 17:09, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Support separate logs - Seems logical. If possible we could have both in the same template with a required parameter of "ring of wealth" (answer yes or no), with the information not used if the parameter is missing. That way you can be more certain that the info is in the correct log. That may be being a bit too careful though, meh just a suggestion. Support separation either way. --Henneyj 00:14, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait!!! - the hellhounds are not supposed to have drop rates like that and should be fixed the next update. Resetting the charm log to data gained this week would make it obsolete again after the update. There are no charm drop rates other than they were before the RoW update, except for rock lobster and hellhound rates which will be fixed the next update. I strong oppose deleting any logs we currently have or splitting RoW logs and normal logs, per what I said before. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 03:08, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Changed to do nothing - Joey pointed out that it's going to go back soon. I say we just remove all the entries that were made this week (with the high drop rates) and add a note in the trivia section or something. And leave it at that. --LiquidTalk 03:11, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

ninja'd =D
Just change "This is fixed" to "This was fixed" in the last scentence, and we're up-to-date again Lol JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 03:21, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
You mean "This will be fixed"? =P --Henneyj 05:06, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

OK - that changes things somewhat. Does the ring not affect charm drops then? --Henneyj 05:06, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Not at all. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 11:27, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - Yeh maybe remove all the submissions for hellhounds/rock lobsters from the time since the update till when the update was fixed. This will just keep the charm logs accurate. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 08:16, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - We could just protect the pages until Jagex fixes it. 222 talk 09:05, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

I guess that and clearing out submissions done this week would be good imo. If we are going to protect them, we should have a message why we protected it, and still watch it after it's fixed, because probably people will still submit their logs of this week. The bot will automatically remove any entrees entries for that week because it will be so far off the "accepted" normal rate. Farming cape (t).png Lil cloud 9 Talk 01:35, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
I guess it doesn't. We just need to change back to this version as soon as the update of the charm logs is there. It's not that hard. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 07:56, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
The bot is updating the logs because the logs were reset (temporarily) to reflect the current drop rates. Once Jagex has fixed the drop rate with hell hounds back to their original, then the charm drops can be reverted back to their pre-update values and then things will continue as normal. Jagex may fix this week, so will be back to normal soon. Smile Amaurice talk 12:54, March 22, 2011 (UTC)

IM CONFUS - Joey says that the ring does not affect drop rates. However, if it increases the odds of rare drops, doesn't that mean that other drop rates decrease? bad_fetustalk 16:19, March 22, 2011 (UTC)

The charm drop rates are 100% unaffected by anything. This is because the charms are extra drops. You can get a drop affected by the RoW, and a blue charm. This means that it doesn't matter what drop you might get, you have the same chance of getting charms (which is almost exactly what our charm logs say it is) for each and every kill. With or without Ring of wealth. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 20:19, March 22, 2011 (UTC)
I can't liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive... with or without Row...... --Henneyj 04:39, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

Closed - The charm logs have been reset and do not reflect data gathered during the altered drop rate period. No further action will be taken. Suppa chuppa Talk 08:06, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
