Forum:Requesting op rights
As you might know, we have a shortage of operators in the IRC channel. Now that the channel is more active than ever, we need some moderators in there to keep the peace. Just today, the IRC was getting spammed by people simulating masturbation. It's not exactly a pleasant scene... So far, the only op we have who is constantly sitting in the channel is Andorin, but he is usually present as AK|offline, which, as his name may suggest, is offline and unable to do anything. Rwojy has stopped showing up in the IRC for some reason.
So, I'm requesting that Ajr and I get the op flag at least temporarily. I'm in the IRC every day for a long period of time now, and so is Ajr. I think that we can probably cover the busiest hours between the two of us. Sysops technically are eligible to get operator status in emergencies, but that is something that I would like to avoid. --LiquidTalk 21:52, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Support - Needed. Ikin was very annoying.
Don't Support - I do not support because some people like Liquidhelium isn't as good as Ajraddatz. -- 22:02, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Question What are the different levels of tools available to people in the IRc? I was under the impression that sysops were given tools that allowed kicking of needed persons just by asking.--Degenret01 22:35, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
- From what I know, there are operators and managers. Operators can do things like kick and ban users from the channel, as well as do a few more administrative things like invite people or set the topic. Managers can do all that and give the operator flag to other users. So, operators are akin to administrators and managers are like bureaucrats. I'm not sure if we can get this just by asking; I think we can, but I'd rather have a discussion on it, partly because I'm not sure people will want me and Ajr to be opped. --LiquidTalk 22:37, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
- It is, you just need to ask the right person.-- 23:52, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Er... what? - Where does it say that's the process? I'm a regular user and I approve this message.
