I would like BrainBot to be allowed to auto-save (essentially upgrading to full bot status) it's edits. BrainBot operates entirely using AWB and performs mainly image maintenance tasks and other general maintenance. Tasks which would be sped up greatly by being able to auto-save include replacing deleted images with their replacements as well as quickly replacing categories which have been superseded by new categories.

A list of tasks I will be performing (many which I already do, at semi-auto speeds) follows:

  • Replacing old files with their new versions (manually set up using data from Special:WantedFiles)
  • Replacing and removing/adding categories when required.
  • Replacing and removing/adding templates when required.
  • Replacing deprecated HTML
  • Working on RS:TD and RS:UH tasks when required.
  • Any other requested tasks or miscellanious one-off tasks.

Safeguards preventing any damage from BrainBot's edits are links which halt or ban BrainBot from editing, as well as myself having performed most of these tasks a multitude of times at semi-auto speeds. Thanks, 222 talk 09:39, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Support - As nominator. BrainBot also tells me it prefers a bright orange colour over the ghastly purple it is currently forced to wear. Wink 222 talk 09:39, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

OpposeSupport - Nubs cant use AWB. I think brains can manage a bot perfectly fine. Also, what Psycho said. - [Pharos] 10:05, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Long as it doesn't vandalise every page on the wiki, in which case I'll set the evil chicken on you. Real Nub 11:15, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Weak Support - I seriously don't like people replacing certain deprecated html (<s> to <del> is just on my nerves. ZammyBot is making me freak out the next time I put a <s>. --中亚人/中亞人 (Chinasian/Jeffwang16) 跟我谈话 00:55, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

They are deprecated. Changing to <del> or even <span style="text-decoration:line-through"> make no visible difference. There is no need to worry either as it doesn't hurt you... Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 01:06, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
The idea of deprecated HTML is that it is no longer accepted good practice and is not required to be supported in future web browsers. If you can't bring yourself to adapt to changes and use the non-deprecated HTML tags then prepare to have your posts edited accordingly, and edit warring with a bot is not likely to go in your favour - bots don't ragequit. First off, I don't like people messing with my comments. <sarcasm> But, since the lord Zamorak runs it, oh Saradomin save me </sarcasm>. --中亚人/中亞人 (Chinasian/Jeffwang16) 跟我谈话 13:26, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
What is wrong with changing <s> to <del> or even <span style="text-decoration:line-through">? It doesn't change anything in how it looks, and if someone does change something of your comments, you can tell them not to do so. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 14:36, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
How can I tell that to TyA-bot? --中亚人/中亞人 (Chinasian/Jeffwang16) 跟我谈话 13:12, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
Tell what? That it doesn't change what it looks like? Why? i more meant that if someone changes text or meaning of your comments, which is not the case. <s> is deprecated HTML so that's why it should be changed. There is nothing wrong or illegal about it, and you can't stop someone from removing deprecated HTML, not even from comments, unless you have consensus to stop them. But before you start a thread, please note that almost nobody but you minds the fact someone changes deprecated HTML. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 14:58, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Additional task

BrainBot now has the capability to run a GEMW updating script. This script performs functions near identical functions as the other GE updating bots, more details can be added if requested. I have also performed comprehensive testing with it to about 30 different Exchange pages, the results were favourable. 222 talk 06:23, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion

Support - As nom. As adding GEMW updating functions will be a large expansion, I think this requires an additional section as a positive consensus above does not necessarily reflect tasks proposed here. 222 talk 08:55, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Question - Did you program it to not conflict with SmackBot and AmauriceBot? Those two bots are programmed not to conflict with each other. Also, did you check if the operators of those bots will be okay modifying their code to include your bot in there also? --LiquidTalk 20:08, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

User:SmackBot hasn't run since the start of November mid October. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 05:20, December 6, 2010 (UTC)
Conflict? 222 talk 05:40, December 6, 2010 (UTC)
It shouldn't conflict - the bot is designed to not update the price of an item if its price had been updated within the past 24 hours (it checks "Date=" and calculates time difference). ~Aeri 09:58, December 7, 2010 (UTC)
