In July, Chicken was approved here to be an IRC manager because we have no active managers. Since he left, once again we're out of active managers. It's good to have at least one active manager. For those of you who don't know, IRC managers have the ability to change flags for other users, kind of like how bureaucrats can change user rights on the wiki.

I'm nominating Rwojy for IRC manager because he is a trusted user who frequents the IRC. He is in there almost 24/7. I cannot fathom Rwojy leaving the wiki, due to personal reasons. He is a good user who can always be counted on to use his best judgment and take the responsibility seriously when necessary. Rwojy knows how to have fun, but above all, he is an extremely competent and able person when the need arises. Thus, I believe that Rwojy will make an excellent manager. --LiquidTalk 20:43, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

P.S. He has given me permission to nominate him in the IRC.

Discussion

Support - As nominator. --LiquidTalk 20:43, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose See below. - I'd support someone having manager flags, but I don't believe that Rwojy would be the best choice for this. Remember than manager is essentially bureaucrat but for the IRC; would you support Rwojy being nominated for bureaucrat? I wouldn't. Rwojy is a great person, but I'd prefer to see these additional rights in the hands of, say, User:AndorinKato, who is also active on the IRC. Sorry. ajr 22:43, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't support him for bureaucrat, though that's because I think we have enough crats as is. Rwojy has demonstrated several key qualities that I look for in potential bureaucrats. First, he keeps his nose out of community discussions. Next, he has a track record of being fair and impartial when he does comment. Though he isn't very serious in the userspace, in the forumspace and mainspace he's more serious than I am. I've never seen him make any type of joke in the forums. As for the IRC, I don't think Andorin is active enough to be manager. Most of the time, he's sitting in there as AK|offline. If you count the time that his account is logged in, sure, he passes, but if you consider the time he's actually in the IRC, it's not that much. --LiquidTalk 22:47, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
But we have no need for an extremely active manager; it is the same thing as a bureaucrat. It isn't that hard for them to type /cs flags #wikia-runescape username OP once and a while. ajr 22:50, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Per Ajr. Rwojy is a little too not-serious at times... 222 talk 00:55, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with you. However, one characteristic that I quite admire about Rwojy is that he knows exactly when he needs to be serious and exactly when he can let things slide a bit. When he needs to be professional, he does it even better than me. That's saying something. --LiquidTalk 01:23, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
If you hang around with Rwojy a while, you know he can be serious when he needs to. If everything is fine, he tends to mess around, probably having fun or relieving stress.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Powers38 (talk) on 11:31, September 19, 2010 (UTC).

Neutral - I do understand how they are concerns on both sides. I think Rwojy can handle himself and take things seriously when need be, but as I'm not extremely active in CC/IRC I'm just going to state that, but not support/oppose. He is a good balance of fun/work (or whatever you want to call it). HaloTalk 01:28, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral - Per Halo. I don't hang around IRC at all.Santa hat.png Powers38 おはようヾ(´・ω・`) 01:32, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Support - He knows how to be a nub and a trout in the irc but can be very serious when needed and is easily one of the most active people in the cc. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 01:37, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Changed to Oppose - He seems to be unactive in the irc recently and Karlis seems to be able to give op's by himself. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 06:45, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I've known Rwojy for a while, and as Liquid has stated, he can be serious and mature when he wants to be. His stance towards disruption is relatively unrivaled, and I can't think of a more active user in the IRC at this moment of time (However, my IRC time has been limited as of late), I can't think of any reason why Rwojy shouldn't have this additional right. I am curious, though, has this been ran past Rwojy first? he may for some reason not want this. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 08:51, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

It does say "P.S. He has given me permission to nominate him in the IRC. ". Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 08:53, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Uhh, bit immature? I'd support AJR though.   Swizz Talk   Events!   10:19, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I never see him being serious in the IRC but I think I would trust him per others. Also, he have demonstrated his ability to code IRC script which I think is good for operators to have. willwill Talk 14:20, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Now, I've never actually been in IRC, however, the only opposition here brought is that wojwoj is immature. I couldn't disagree more. Joking a lot doesn't mean that you are immature, and he knows when to be serious. bad_fetustalk 18:20, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, the immaturity plays no part in my oppose. ajr 18:22, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
Well, you gave no reason why AndorinKato deserves it more. bad_fetustalk 18:29, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
More neutrality? Been around here for a considerably longer time? ajr 18:30, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
And what makes you think wojwoj isn't neutral? Also, he has also been around for a long time, you sound like he joined the wiki few weeks ago. bad_fetustalk 13:24, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose His participation in the sysop blocking games back in April lead me to believe he can not be trusted with more tools and is not mature enough to handle more responsibility.-- Degen says Unban TLUL  14:55, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Yes, Rwojy likes to mess around, but I've also seen that he has the maturity and control that a manager would need. Sure, he isn't perfect, but I am confident that Rwojy has learned from these past mistakes and is more than qualified to help out in the IRC. --Aburnett(Talk) 00:11, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I'd support rwojy's RfB, actually. I could go on and on about how epic he is, but none of it would be applicable to this. Needless to say, he will do a great job with these extra flags. ajr 03:42, September 26, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Not that I want to decrease Rwojy or anyone's chances, but I will happily still apply flags if requested through email. I check my email regularly. But I won't be in the IRC or on the wiki much at all. I won't check here again, so I'll know the decision if I receive anything. I don't mind if I'm removed or replaced as manager either. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 04:00, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

{{Closure|No activity for almost 2 weeks}} willwill Talk 17:38, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Note to closer In case you missed it above, Karlis is able to and has given flags to sysops in the IRC, making a manager request redundant at this time.--Degenret01 00:52, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

You must be thinking of operators. Sysops are to operators as bureaucrats are to managers, as managers can make another user an operator. To become a manager, it requires consensus such as this. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 01:04, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
He's not. Karlis was given emergency manager status because we ran out of active managers, and someone (Tua, I think) needed to be opped. Since he was a bureaucrat at the time, he skipped the discussion. --LiquidTalk 02:06, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Notice of intent - Rwojy has become inactive in the IRC for about two weeks. I haven't seen him at all for at least a week. Therefore, I intend to withdraw nomination in a few more days unless he comes back. --LiquidTalk 02:08, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Withdrawn - Due to the fact that he has fallen inactive, Rwojy isn't a good candidate anymore, something I am sure most people will agree with. Therefore, I withdraw this nomination. --LiquidTalk 01:40, October 14, 2010 (UTC) --LiquidTalk 01:41, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

Reopened - Rwojy is apparently back. Since it was withdrawn less than 24 hours ago, I'll just reinstate this... --LiquidTalk 22:22, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

Support - He's on IRC very often so will often be available when needed. As mentioned before he can be serious when he needs to be. He's a fun guy to be around otherwise, which isn't a bad thing by any means. It would be a good thing to give Rwojy manager status. --Callofduty4 01:37, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

Request for comment - Discussion has died, no clear consensus, more opinions would be nice. HaloTalk 01:02, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I am currently the IRC manager, and as I once again am playing and visit IRC every few days, as well as being active on the wiki, I don't mind flagging as needed, as I have in the past. Karlis (talk) (contribs) 22:38, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

This request for closure is complete A user has requested closure for Request IRC Manager for Rwojy. Request complete. The reason given was: Rwojy is inactive in IRC, and I am able to give out OPs if needed.
