I know this probably sounds like another attempt at getting a rank for me, but this time around, I do believe we actually need more ranks. Lately a lot of trolls have been appearing in our chat and saying terrible things to our users, and then not being kicked or even warned for it. We have many users who would hold the responsibility of a rank well, and I think we can trust them to guard our chat from these trolls. We have lots of rank space, so we might as well.--Scimitar77 04:22, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Support - as Nominator.--Scimitar77 04:22, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

A better solution to the problem posed as justification for re-opening Rfr is more targeted action against the trolls. No opinion on re-opening it in general though. (wszx) 04:29, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

To extend my comment. I would really like the justification for reopening the requests to be clarified. I am uneasy that if they're opened in the context of "too many trolls need more kickers" that we're going to see some heavy-handed kickers be promoted, because that would seem to be the mandate for opening the requests. But if it's not, and we just need more ranks in general, I think it's very important that we make it clear that this is the case. I do not believe that the "troll problem" is going to be solved by more kickers: there's usually several ranks in the chat when these things happen. If we really think there's a problem that needs to be addressed, it should be fixed head-on rather than in a roundabout manner by simply promoting more ranks. (wszx) 02:54, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
I believe the main problem with the clan chat is that it has a deplorable lack of anti-troll tools, which we can't do much about until Jagex gets their act together and updates the clan chat system like they promised a long time ago. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 15:05, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Support - *sigh* another thread. I can see how this will end but all well. As before in the last two "reopen RfR" threads, i support re-opening them. - [Pharos] 05:30, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Support - Per my comments on the other threads. 222 talk 10:29, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Conditional Indeed the trolls are back in force and we need more kickers, especially at certain times of the day when ranks may be sparse. BUT, instead of just opening them and seeing the flood gates open, I suggest we open them and take the top six people only. And people are strongly advised to think of the needs of the CC, and select people whom are around at times we actually need the ranks. So if person A is really great but they are only there for two hours a day and only when 2-4 other ranks are always present, it is wasteful to give them a rank. Consider that.--Degenret01 15:06, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - Although I do agree there's no harm in giving out more ranks in fact it would probably be better to have more I don't think that they're really needed. I've said this time and time again but most times there are enough ranks online and even when there aren't many ranks online there isn't any trolls. I believe that you guys have over exaggerated by saying "there's more and more trolls now" that's wrong. We have one guy who isn't really doing any thing too bad however is causing some trouble but other than that we get about one troll a month. I also am scared people, once again, will just keep on voting for their friends or perhaps people who have no need for a rank at all leaving us in a few months time in the same situation we are in now with "Re-Open RfR" threads once again. I know people will argue again saying "omg no ranks in my timezone" but in these timezones, usually Australian, there is normally around 5-10 people in the Clan Chat meaning it wouldn't be too much to ask for the cc users to utilise their ignore lists. That is all.   Swizz Talk   Events!   17:50, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Support - Yes, I realize that so far most of the people who are supporting are those who might get a rank. Still, I do think that we need more ranks at certain times; although I'm obviously not around to see it, there are times when we have no ranks, and that is a problem. Asking everyone to use their ignore list just because we don't want to give clan chat ranks to a few more people is really strange. It is true that trolls and spammers are not very common these days, but that's not a reason to not have ranks in the chat at times. I really think we should be better safe than sorry and open up a couple of RfRs. ʞooɔ 20:01, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

My ignore keeps getting full from those merch CC advert PMs... Frown Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 20:16, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - Part of the problem is that some of the ranks don't really care. Earlier someone was annoying people in the chat. One rank was defending him, another egging him on, another afk, and only 1 rank actually doing anything to stop him (though he did not listen in the end). If our ranks aren't even going to do anything to stop people from being rude/trolling in the chat, then we should definitely get some more people to patrol the chat.--Scimitar77 03:08, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Support - I agree with what cook said, there's times when there is either no ranks in chat or just one (while only one is needed it's better to have 2 in case one has to leave for some reason), an event that can be fairly common especially late night/very early EST. Support - Per above. ajr 03:37, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Support - I see no harm that could come of this. As was stated in another thread, it's quite often that there's only 1 rank online regularly at certain times. Any time that they aren't online, any spammers/trolls can do this. Real Nub 19:49, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Support - The ranks do seem to be less effective these days. I wouldn't say that the number of trolls is growing, but they are getting smarter about trolling under the radar. I have been there at many times of the day when there have been no ranks at all for hours. Also, Yoda's second comments above rises something else important. I feel that a lot of the current ranks should be re-evaluated as I, and many others I have spoken with, feel that the ranks are not doing all that they can to help the "General Welfare" of the Clan Chat. Firemaking cape.pngQwert Yuiop8 talk Firemaking-icon.png 02:38, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Strong oppose - I cannot support this without some kind of restriction. I wouldn't mind Degen's solution. The last time we tried to open RfR's, it ended up being a load of popularity contests, leading to a long delay. I realize the need for new ranks, and I want that to be resolved. But, I believe that a rash reopening of the RfR system will do more harm than good. --LiquidTalk 02:42, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

But if we need the ranks to keep the chat functioning smoothly, then how is it such a problem? I don't know about you, but I'm frequently in the chat. There are some major problems with the olume of ranks and especially the quality of ranks. We need more ranks for the chat. At other times it's been a matter of "We might as well" but this time they're actually needed for the chat's well-being.--Scimitar77 03:01, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
I suppose my wording wasn't ideal. I meant, I see the need to patch up the times when we have no ranks. A general RfR opening will result in another influx of Western Hemisphere ranks with few Eastern Hemisphere ones, which is exactly what we don't need. --LiquidTalk 03:09, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
The solution is simple: restrict nominees for ranks to editors who are known to be active during the peak hours of UTC +5 to +12. As I suggested in the previous threads. 222 talk 03:28, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
I think that would be a tenable solution. However, if I may point out a bad word choice... the hours of UTC+5 to +12 consist of Australia, New Zealand, and a bunch of uninhabited Pacific tropical islands, which can hardly be considered "peak hours" compared to the time zones of UTC -5 to -8, which cover the continental United States. Wink --LiquidTalk 03:48, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Re:"Some ranks not doing all that they can to help the General Welfare of the clan chat" - Guilty as charged. I often spend my ingame time having fun, training, killing stuff, and I miss a lot of what happens in the CC. I always regarded the CC as something to try o pay attention to but it didn't take priority over what I was doing. If you, or anyone, thinks the ranks need to spend every ingame moment monitoring the cc then go ahead and take our ranks. --Degenret01 03:04, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

I strongly support Degen's argument/statement/declaration/postulation/whatever. I can attest to the fact that most of the time that I'm on (which is almost never), I very rarely actually watch the CC. Most of the time, I just sit there and do nothing. --LiquidTalk 03:09, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
I'm not saying you have to sit there for your whole ingame, staring at the CC waiting for a troll. I'm just saying that a lot of ranks (Not really you, Degen) have even gone as far as to befriend and then defend trolls in the clan chat. That is not the kind of thing we need on our chat. I myself was kicked for critisizing a troll last night, and for no other reason but that. The person who kicked me is also a known friend of the troll I criticized.--Scimitar77 03:39, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Support - Even if we believe that the ranks are not needed, you can oppose the nomination. Ranks shouldn't be based on whether or not they are "lucky" enough to of been able to been here when the RfR was open. If ranks will help the clan chat, by all means let them be ranked. If they aren't needed.... we'll probably run into the same issues that we had with the admin requests. svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 04:05, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Support - I never understood why people oppose them in the first place. Does having more ranks hurt? bad_fetustalk 15:35, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, you didn't know? For every new rank we get, we have to kill a puppy. ʞooɔ 02:57, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
In that case... --Aburnett(Talk) 02:58, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
It would have been kittens, except that's taken... Anyways, yea, that's why I'm supporting. Reducing the number of fleabags worldwide is a good thing, imo. ajr 03:14, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
Real Nub 15:42, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Support - Sure. --Aburnett(Talk) 02:58, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - for the reason currently given. The trolls that we currently have in the cc are the ones that enter and say something inappropriate in under a second and that we have no way to kick. Adding more ranks will not do anything to help, so as Gaz said, until Jagex does those updates they promised, I see no reason to add more ranks. Christine 03:26, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Firstly, if we get those annoying join-troll-leave people,, then it's at least worth watching the CC list and kicking on sight. Secondly, what harm does adding more ranks do? Real Nub 11:08, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
It does not harm, yet it doesn't do much more good.   Swizz Talk   Events!   16:15, January 8, 2011 (UTC)
Wut? How could it possibly be a bad thing? There are plenty of times when there's only 1 or 2 ranks on, and a full CC. Backing up those ranks, in case they lag or can't pay attention for whatever reason (death, boss fight, etc), does do good - it adds another level of security against trolls/spammers. Real Nub 11:03, January 9, 2011 (UTC)
