Forum:Removing lieutenant account requirement
- The rule was put in place for the R S Wikia Clan (now Friends) Chat (now defunct) at Forum:Clan rank requirements. --LiquidTalk 16:41, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
Recently we've had one successful request for sergeant (Mess Effect), and two more open right now (one of which is almost certainly successful (AstrasGirl), and one just opened (Raglough)) where the nominee has a new account (under 3 months old) and the age requirement has been ignored based on UCS - the user is excellent for the job, arbitrarily making them wait would not be beneficial. Also, on my quick browse of the archives I don't think there was anyone unsuccessful on the sole basis of having a too young wiki account. As such, I think that we just just outright remove the account age requirement for sergeants, though the user should have an account so that we can contact them on-wiki.
I don't think this should change for clan admins, though it should be one of the 'softer' requirements.
TL;DR: remove the account age requirement from requests for lieutenant.

- And Raglough's account is three days short of three months. I figured that was close enough to count, as the account age range given is approximate anyways. --LiquidTalk 16:43, February 7, 2012 (UTC)

- Don't you mean RfR? 22:35, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
Support - I would never oppose removing red tape. I always hate requirements just to apply for something - the point of the process is to decide whether or not the candidate is eligible, so let's let the system do its work. ajr 19:52, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
Support - As much as I dont want to say it: per all. In my opinion, the three month requirement does more harm than good. Raglough 21:54, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
Support - I know I don't actually use the clan, but it seems rather pointless to deny capable people from gaining sergeant for several months purely because they just use the chat only. Having an account for the purpose of contacting onwiki makes sense, the age limit doesn't22:35, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
Support - No real reason to keep it for the triple bananas.09:29, February 8, 2012 (UTC)
Support per Ciphrius Kane above and per my previous stance:

|— Requests for CC Rank/Archive 4|
Removing the account age requirement would separate the Clan Chat's ranks a bit more from the wiki's, even if the requests for rank are made on the wiki. I think they are made here due to technical superiority: longer discussions can take place, people from multiple timezones can participate, and of course everything is archived.
Being able to contact a user of a different timezone about a question related to the Clan Chat would be good, as well as asking longer questions. So users can announce their on-wiki name in the Clan Chat, and when a user needs another, the Clan Chat can tell him/her where to go.

Closed - Users running for the lieutenant rank need to have an account on the wiki, but it does not have to be 3 months old. Users running for the administrator rank are still advised to have a 3 month old account. --LiquidTalk 01:53, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
