As I'm sure most of you are aware, recently World 28 was changed to Poland. There has been some debate on whether the physical server was moved or just relabeled, but I've noticed higher ping on it. I believe the intent of World 28 was previously to have a server that would do the most good for the most people and have a consistent ping for the majority of wikians. Thus, I propose we decide on another world for our events and day-to-day playing. I propose we can use world 39 as it is a United States world and would open up a F2P U.S. world 1 number higher as before (39/40 - 28/29) melonWatermelon slice.png 05:11, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion

Comment - I have moved it to the yg as this is not about the clan chat. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 05:18, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Sentra, I wasn't sure if it belonged here or there, but I figured it was more oriented to the CC as it's really the only in game aspect of our community. Thanks again. melonWatermelon slice.png 05:21, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
Actually it's completely about the Clan Chat. (wszx) 05:22, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
Also the Wiki world is offical, see RuneScape:Wiki worlds. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 05:23, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
"...completely about the Clan Chat." another world for our events and day-to-day playing. Yes it involves the Clan Chat, but not only that. Just clearing it up. 222 talk 05:37, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the link Sentra. By unofficial I meant unofficial on Jagex's terms. The point I'm making here is to get a world that should run a good ping for the most users. melonWatermelon slice.png 05:55, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I agree that serving the largest amount of people is the best course of action. 222 talk 05:39, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Slight Supportski - The world does seem laggier and I don't understand what half the people are saying.   Swizz Talk   Events!   08:00, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Lol. - [Pharos] iPhone Edit 14:22, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
World 28 always had a high number of Polish users, I assume the new flag has just increased it. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 16:21, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Super Support - Erm... I noticed world 102 is a very good world, it's only been down once in 2010 (just recently, very likely for maintenance by Jagex on purpose), and it's super-stable too. It's also an official Falador Party World. I usually play on it. It is also f2p. There aren't much people on either. --中亚人/中亞人 (Chinasian/Jeffwang16) 跟我谈话 12:22, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

One of the other reasons we chose world 28 was because it had no other activities on it that could attract undue lag, however it does have lootshare. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s

Support - How do you spell Poland-ish? Polish? Pollish? Poulish? Anyway, digression, yes let's move. I wouldn't mind one of the Clan Wars worlds. I am noticing some lagg on w28, not too much though. - [Pharos] iPhone Edit 14:20, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Polish. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 16:21, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - World 67 is generally a good world, no lag most people are at the G.E merching or wasting XP/Hr so it's great for slayer and other skills.   Swizz Talk   Events!   16:12, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Comment/Neutral - I have noticed a ping change - it used to be around an acceptable ~180ms, but has dropped to a super fast ~40ms (in comparison the UK based worlds are around ~20-30 for me), so I guess that is has been relocated to Poland/somewhere in that region. As such I don't mind if its renamed (we have had world 28 for a loooong time now), but if the American side of the community really are experiencing a lot of lag then I have no problems with it being moved either (as long as still reasonable ping for the rest of the world and has lootshare and no other activities, as before). Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 16:21, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Support - We need a server that serves the majority of our community. Poland simply doesn't do that. --LiquidTalk 22:05, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I think the world always sucked. Then again, my memory isn't very good, so I may just have sucked as far as my mermory goes. Regardless, it currently sucks and need to be changed. Guthix's Book of Balance.pngUFeelNoPainTalkFiremaking 22:25, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Support - As Swizz and Liquidhelium above. OriginaLuigI 22:27, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Clarification - I agree that the new worlds should be 39 (for members) and 40 (for Wikifests and for non-members). For now, however, even if we don't all agree on just two servers, it seems to me (or, at least, I hope) that we're supporting what appears to be the main proposal here: that we choose a new world to use for Wiki purposes. I guess later we can have another thread or a poll or something to choose the precise servers (hopefully 39&40 as proposed). OriginaLuigI 23:57, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Support W39 - Very low ping for Americans compared to 28, lootshare, and world 40 is also lootshare. Wicid13 22:28, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - It seems that most people support changing the world, the main discussion seems to be what world. Wicid13 17:48, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Support - It seems that I can't stay on W28 for five minutes without lagging and getting disconnected. Any American based world would work for me. Suppa chuppa Talk 17:52, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I have a lot of problems staying connected to this world. Time to make a change.--Scimitar77 18:28, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Over here in Britain, I'm not noticing much difference (although I haven't looked at the ping for a while) but I'm perfectly happy to move if half our users are getting problems with staying logged in. Real Mad 21:22, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion - Why not 60? Most training spots will be free as a majority of people logged on will be hunting pengs, its got lootshare and has a low Ping. Also means we don't have to hop worlds for peng hunting too.   Swizz Talk   Events!   22:07, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, that does sound like a good idea. I support! Real Mad 11:26, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
I have to admit even though I'm rather attached to 39 already, 60 has promise. Is 61 a F2P and does 60 ave low ping for north americans? melonWatermelon slice.png 17:37, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
I'm getting more and more attached to 39 by the day. When he suggested this in the clan chat, I started going to 39 more, mostly because I couldn't stay in 28 for more than 10 minutes, but I think we should keep 39. Not very crowded, good people, and best of all, less lag for Americans!--Scimitar77 18:20, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
In fact, neither World 60 nor World 61 has Lootshare. They appear to be located in North America, but they're designated as Great Orb Project worlds, so I'm not certain. (I get similarly low ping for servers located in the United States, Canada, and some of northern Europe, like Norway.) This is converse to Worlds 39 and 40, which are Lootshare Worlds explicitly located in the United States. So, while I am not opposed to the 60/61 proposal, it appears to be contrary to what originally made World 28 (and later World 39) attractive to some Wikians. Altogether, I still find 39/40 to be a better proposal. OriginaLuigI 20:36, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

== Moving forward == Ignore the gray text: It seems pretty clear the community is or supportive of or at least willing to move from 28/29, so I think we should treat the move-or-not question as settled in favor of moving. We just have to pick a world to move to. 39/40 was originally suggested, and 60/61 has also been suggested. All four worlds are low ping for Americans and both 39 and 60 are ls worlds. Swizz has offered that since many on W60 will be doing penguins, training spots might be freer, and we also won't have to hop worlds when any of us do penguins. For my money, since both 39/40 and 60/61 are the same in terms of ping and ls, the penguin consideration seems to tip the scales in favor of 60/61. So I think we ought to just pick a world and go forward. I know we don't like to vote here, but there's really no substantive reasons to pick one set over the other except preference so I vote we just vote on it. (wszx) 19:03, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

60 was definitely ls last time I looked Lol. Since the above is now nonsense, just ignore it. (wszx) 21:36, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral, Leaning to 39/40 - What's the gray text for? 39 and 40 are my personal favorites from the list you provided, as 60 and 61 are GOP worlds. At the same time, choosing 60/61 may not be a bad choice for the same reason. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 21:47, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

It's void now because I was incorrect and 60/61 aren't ls, I think we want the world we select to be ls. I greyed it out because it was easier on the eyes than striking it all. (wszx) 21:49, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
Clarified the gray = void thing. What do you mean by "1s"? Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 21:51, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
"LS" = Loot Share. Suppa chuppa Talk 21:53, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
Ahh, that would be desirable. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 23:18, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Support - "The greatest good for the greatest number." On a slightly unrelated note, you mentioned that you "noticed lower ping" on world 28 in your proposal... just a small observation.  Tien  21:22, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

How the hell did I mess that up? I'll fix it momentarily. melonWatermelon slice.png 22:32, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Strong oppolska - W28 is located in the UK. I am absolutely sure of the server location. If you need clarification, just ask. ----クールネシトーク 03:46, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

I think you've got confused as to the point of this thread. 28 is a Polish world on the English-speaking RS server, so it's more crowded at different times, which are generally when the Americans are on. Real Mad 08:02, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Support 60 and 61 - They are used by a lot of wikians and we don't need lootshare worlds because when would we use it? we have only every used lootshare as a wiki once and that was the wikifest where we wern't on the wikiworld. If we don't use this maybe 46 and 47 as they are both US worlds and are lootshare. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 07:45, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - A lot of wikians (myself included) often go to bosses (God Wars, KBD, Mole) and we like to use lootshare. Thus, I feel 39/40 are the best choice for our needs.--Scimitar77 01:45, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - As per a request to look at this, consensus is pretty clear to change the official wiki world to 39 for P2P and 40 for F2P. Huanghe63talk 01:51, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
