Hi friends! Now that the wiki migration is mostly done, I'm starting to dig into the RuneMetrics data that people have been submitting over the last few months. We're up to about 197 million total kills submitted. You can see the breakdown of monsters here.

Now for the hard part of actually converting them to rates and drop tables. Between the data we have, and our ability to lean on accurate OSRS tables for a lot of old stuff, I think we can get pretty solid rates for about 1000-1500 monster articles. I'm very interested in getting this done because it's one of the main things people have called out as not being good enough on RSW.

The problem is, I don't really know this game anymore. I'm happy to do all the statistical stuff and data crunching, but as I've been working on this, there's been lots of times where I've needed help from someone who is actively familiar with how people play the game today. I'll have questions like (for example):

  • Does anyone have a guess why Sophanem Slayer Dungeon monsters seem to never drop brawling gloves from the RDT?
  • What are the actual circumstances you can get xyz drop from this monster?
  • What percentage of abyssal demon kills would you guess are happening in Kuradal's Dungeon?
  • Who wants to go 100 of monster xyz and tell me the distribution of coin drops they got?

These types of things help me narrow down the set of valid hypotheses for the drop data, and are the main thing preventing us from getting exact(*) drop rates on the wiki. If this sounds like something you want to help with in general, or you're just excited about crunching this drop data, I've made a droplets role on Discord that I'm gonna ping in #drop-logs whenever I have weird questions like this. Please help me because I don't know anything anymore. Thanks. ʞooɔ 23:59, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Closed - please continue to use the #drop-logs channel and droplets role to get involved if you'd like to help Cook with this project. Magic logs detail.pngIsobelTalk page 11:50, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
