Well, here it is, for what it's worth. The Orb of Oculus (correct capitalization) is a brand new tool in RS, and there seems to be a lot of confusion as to how it, and the resulting screenshots, ought to be used here in the Wiki. Resources for storing images on the RS Wiki server are not at a premium, unless there is some sort of limit that I could not possibly be aware of. Can we please have a page where I and others can show off what the Orb is capable of. Then we, as a group can decide what is, and is not, appropriate use of the Orb and screenshots. This would be a page to brainstorm and share, not delete images as soon as they are uploaded. Please and thank you.

Possible uses and discussions:
1)Places - as per existing Yew Grove Forum
2)New and better item shots - like my shot of the enchanted Water tiara
3)The RS Players' Guide to Using the Orb - tips and tricks for getting good / difficult screenshots
4)The Orb and Random Events - do you get fewer randoms with the Orb in your inventory ???
5)"Hidden Areas" - notable as pre-existing areas from quests?
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheLastWordSword (talk).
Yeah, I did forget to sign. Darn! --TheLastWordSword 17:54, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Isn't this a bit too much? I mean, the orb is nice and all, but creating a whole guide on how to use it? Making a guide about how not to get random events? The orb can do great stuff, but why make all this about it and not about other things? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 19:27, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Support/Comment - What do you mean "correct capitalization" (Orb of Oculus)? It's called orb of oculus in your inventory, and is called "orb of oculus" in Jagex news posts. And have you personally noticed that there are fewer random events with the orb? White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 21:29, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I don't know if the orb will improve the quality of pictures when zooming in, but a great use would be for shots of places.  Ranged-icon.png Zap0i TalkRune scimitar.png  00:53, February 19, 2010 (UTC)

Response - the creation of a new project doesn't mean that other projects have to suffer. It's pretty much in the nature of a Wiki to have many projects going on at once, and to have contributors decide where they want to apply their efforts. Using the Orb for certain shots can be difficult, and deciding what sorts of shots ought to (and perhaps more importantly, ought not to) be done with the Orb is exactly what the page(s) would be all about: examples of "good" and "bad" uses of the Orb. As for random events, that was my question: I seem to get fewer, but having others either confirm or deny the theory through their own experience would be more reliable data. And the "hidden areas" debate needs images to discuss, imho, as the debate continues to rage on. --TheLastWordSword 14:48, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
To Update - the release of the new Wilderness castle gives us all a new perspective ;) on the use of the Orb, does it not?
1)Places - The Wilderness castle itself, environs, and NPCs
2)New and better item shots - banners, tents, gate, NPC weapons and clothing
3)The RS Players' Guide to Using the Orb - seems worthwhile, may result in even better shots being contributed
4)The Orb and Random Events - strung 2k of bows at CW, are no-rands normal there?
5)"Hidden Areas" - the whole of the new peninsula is essentially hidden. Nuff said?

Comment - Maby someone could list how far the camera can go, space wise? Zamorak bird.pngFinch ClawFiremaking-icon.png 09:25, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - 1 and 2 are void, there is nothing wrong with having images taken using the Orb. For 3, see Orb of oculus/Tips. 4, is a discussion more suited to Talk:Orb of oculus, and for 5, refer to Forum:Saradomin godwars watery area. C.ChiamTalk 08:15, April 4, 2010 (UTC)
