I am forced yet again to return due to, yup, clan chat power abuse. I, along with at least another Forum Administrator Jediadam4, was kcied from the Clan Chat. I have violated no rules, Wikian or Runescape's. Therefore, this seems like a clearwater case of power abuse, from an administrator. Chiafriend12 and Chicken7 have both said that they did not kick anyone, and I am unsure what other admins were there at the time.

Comment - No idea what happened. No one noticed or realised until I/others were pmed. Chicken7 >talk 06:18, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - The only other admin was Degenret01, and he denies everything as well. Construction-icon.png Matt is Me / Harmonising / Lvl 3 skils3 Talk Cooking cape (t).png 06:19, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

'Comment - Yes I was also kicked at the same time. Degenret was also on at the time. To have two forum admins kicked and God knows who else being kicked for this... it is unacceptable. Prayer.png Jedi Talk HS Log Tracker Summoning.png 06:20, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - No-one else was kicked... Just you two... Construction-icon.png Matt is Me / Harmonising / Lvl 3 skils3 Talk Cooking cape (t).png 06:30, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

No clue how you were kicked, resetting cc now to let you back.--Degenret01 06:25, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Everything seems good and proper, but how it happened is still left in the dark. If one, it could be understandible as a misclick, but both of us? Now that's a throwing weapon!Doucher4000******r4000I'll eat you! 06:31, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Request for closure - This appears to be a minor incident, and we do not have enough evidence for anything. Construction-icon.png Matt is Me / Harmonising / Lvl 3 skils3 Talk Cooking cape (t).png 06:32, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

I think we should keep it open to find out what really happened (or who did it), I doubt it was an accident because 2 people were kicked, it could be a glitch or something but I doubt it. Swiz Talk Review Me 12:15, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - It seems like these little incidents are becoming more frequent, I know our CC doesn't have the capacity to need as many admins as it does. Cap and goggles.pngTEbuddy 14:09, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - It would appear that you guys were discussing global warming, which could be interpreted as a political discussion. I'm not sure what the rules on politics in the CC are (if there is a rule against it, it should be abolished...we're supposed to be mature enough not to have political discussions turned into flame wars), but an admin probably kicked you guys for discussing politics. Still, the fact that this even happened gives me further reason never to go in that channel again... Slayer helmet.png

Political discussions are not banned (which doesn't mean that they are allowed, just implicitly), per RuneScape:Clan Chat and Rules of RuneScape. Hello71 16:27, January 31, 2010 (UTC)
It wasn't really a discussion. D4K and Jedi weren't talking about evidence or comparing probable outcomes or anything civil like that. They were honestly just arguing over whether or not it global warming is true. It lasted for a while, during which time they were told not to start on at least four occasions (three times by me and at least once by Chicken), all of which were ignored.
If we really want to get down with the specified rules for the Clan Chat, they were breaking rules two and four and the the criteria for being kicked was definitely met. I can't help but think that the kicks were legit in this case. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 16:46, February 3, 2010 (UTC)
What? Lets quote 2 and 4 here so every one can see what your linking

"2 No Flaming. This is pretty much self-explanatory. There is absolutely no need to flame anyone. Calling people Noobs is also to be considered as “light” flaming. Anyone who personally attacks another user is to be warned once, and then kicked. This includes discussions of users on the wiki. There are often times problems between users. Should you have something negative to say to or about someone, please take it out of the CC. 4 Keep your conversations mature and remain cool-headed. It is understood that everybody has different political, religious, moral, social, etc. views. Discussing events or beliefs like this is okay, but is preferred to take place in private chat. Discussing politics in the Clan Chat is acceptable, with a few conditions. If other users ask you to please calm down or stop the discussion because it is getting out of hand, kindly do so. It is very easy for these kinds of discussions to quickly evolve into heated arguments. Should this happen, users will be given 1 warning to calm down. Should they continue, please refer to Rule 2. In short, please respect the wishes of others in the Clan Chat when discussing controversial topics. ..." The discussion was well within limits of tolerance.--Degenret01 17:27, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Quoting is fun.::*"Keep your conversations mature and remain cool-headed."::*"If other users ask you to please calm down or stop the discussion because it is getting out of hand, kindly do so."
  • "[...] users will be given 1 warning to calm down."
  • "In short, please respect the wishes of others in the Clan Chat when discussing controversial topics."
  • "One or more warnings will be given, after which the rule breaker may be kicked, depending on the case."
They were asked four or more times to drop the conversation or take it elsewhere. Continuing nevertheless was not being respectful of the wishes of others, it was definitely more than one warning, it was definitely of a controversial topic, it wasn't that mature nor cool-headed, and thus respective criteria was met. Even if you don't agree with the reasoning provided, you at least see where it comes from, correct? In which case, can we not just apply RS:AGF the kick and get on with our lives? Dragon medium helm! I would like to get on with life, Chia, but the issue of who kicked them still needs to be resolved. If you, ChickenSeven, or Degen kicked the two forum admins for violating Clan Chat rules, then everything is fine. However, since all of you three have denied kicking Mark and Jedi, that really only leaves the "rogue admin" (see below) theory. That means that a fourth admin logged into the clan chat, kicked Mark and Jedi, and left. That admin did not have any reason to believe that Mark and Jedi were violating rules, since he or she has not been in the clan chat when the discussion was going on. Kicking people without reason is a clear violation of rules, and that is what is worrisome about this situation. It's very difficult to assume good faith when the admin did not have any grounds to apply the kick. --Liquidhelium 02:51, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Another case of these mysterious kicks. Concerned This isn't the first time that someone was kicked with no one claiming to have done the kicking.  Tien  15:43, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Is it possible that a fourth admin joined the clan chat, kicked Jedi and D4K and quickly left before anyone noticed? FredeTalk 17:06, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

But why would they do that? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 18:54, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - D4K, is it possible you are not showing us everything?--Cheers, Off-hand ascension crossbow.pngYodaAscension crossbow.png 21:32, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I trust that Mark's not fudging details, because in all honesty, he has no reason to. I must have left (if this occurred yesterday) and missed this, but if there's only 3 admins in the chat, it was either a glitch or a lie/misclick. We can't prove what happened, unless it was a kick and the person comes forward. Zaros symbol.pngChaos Monk Talk SignCoins 250.png 21:49, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you weren't there. A bit before the kick, Degen had asked if you were going to log back on to which Chicken and I replied that we both thought you had logged off for the night. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 23:11, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Okay, well, I understand the point of this and all, but I think this should be closed unless someone proposes for something to be done about the situation.  Panjy16  22:44, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

This is the trouble. Nothing can be done until we know who (if anyone) is responsible in these instances of apparently random kicks. The truth is that it may be no one. For example, maybe lag can cause the cc to "lose connection" with a user, and appear to kick them when no ranked user requested it. The only way to know who kicked is if Jagex changes the system to include their name when they kick someone. If you want Jagex to do this, add your support to QFC 83-84-598-58405714 on the RSOF. Just remember that anyone able to kick a forum admin has passed an RFA. If there is a rogue user, we may just have to put up with it until Jagex makes a change. A simple kick (whilst annoying) is not the end of the world, and unfortunately it is an inherent risk under the current system. Leevclarke talk Max_logo_mini.png bulldog_puppy.png 23:01, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - The "Rogue admin" theory seems most likely of all, because all that were kicked were two lieutenants. Now that's a throwing weapon!Doucher4000******r4000I'll eat you! 23:51, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Remember, though, Max said that anyone who can kick a Lieutenant has to be a Captain or above. That means that only Administrators, Bureaucrats, and C Teng can kick you. The "Rogue Admin" theory is the most plausible of the theories, but it is really hard to imagine anyone who has the full trust of the community and has administrator privileges on the wiki to be kicking anyone unfairly. Should this admin be discovered, I would hope that adequate punitive action is taken. --Liquidhelium 00:13, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Closed No one is stepping forward, so I will just hope it was either a glitch, or that it never happens again. No further point to this being open now. Nothing can be "solved" here.--Degenret01 13:31, February 6, 2010 (UTC)
