Hiya!

After posting an advertisement message at Twitter (http://twitter.com/WikiMark/status/12776515798) that the wiki is now an official silver website, Jagex asked me if the wiki has an official Twitter account/representative that Jagex may follow for official information:

OfficialJagex: you guys got an official twitter / main point of contact representative on Twitter that I can add to our follow lists?

Wat should I reply? The RSWiki account? The problem is that that one Tweets a lot (all new pages), so that might not be the best choice. Perhaps a new one should be created. Of course, it might also be possible to say that we don't have/want one.

So:

  1. Use RSWiki (Remove activity feed)
  2. Create new account
  3. Say the wiki doesn't have/want an account

Comment - Very interesting. I think we should use RSWiki ONLY if we can have access to it, and remove the new page feed. Or else, create a new account. I was unsure of the status, and couldn't find anyone who knows anything about it when I was updating RS:OS. Anyway, that's my 2c. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 13:18, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Just create a new account and Don't put an activity feed on it.Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 13:21, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Yeah, the account shouldn't have an activity feed, that would certainly spam Jagex and Jagex won't agree. Mark (talk) 13:35, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - How about we make a new account called "RSWNews" which has the feed, then we use "RSWiki" as an official account?   Swizz Talk   Events!   14:27, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I like Swiz' idea. I'm a regular user and I approve this message.  TLUL Talk - Contribs 18:18, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Who has access to RSWiki? (davelopo) 19:41, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I like Swiz's idea as well. HaloTalk 19:44, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Yeah, that would be best. Using CoTweet just like Jagex would be best. Who owns the RSWiki account? Mark (talk) 20:20, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure know one knows. We didn't know last time it was brought up, and no one stepped foreward. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 21:03, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Support an Official Twitter account - Looks like I'm the first to actually support OMG!. Anyway, I don't see the harm in having an official twitter account. And since I'm guessing we still don't know who owns RSWiki, we'll probably end up having to create a new account. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 21:03, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

Well I support it too...so how's that. If we do end up doing that we could do Official RS Wiki or Official RS Wikia or something along that line. HaloTalk 21:06, April 25, 2010 (UTC)
I missed it in the sea of comments Lol changed comment regarding the new discussion below. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 15:25, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - We should use RSWiki, as Jagex has listed it in their official fansite lists. Perhaps this person is the owner? He is the only "person" followed by the account. We can of course also create a new one and message Jagex. Mark (talk) 14:54, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Update: http://twitter.com/RSWiki/status/12826901723, 24h ago. I'll try to direct message. Mark (talk) 15:00, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Hey guys, I own the account. I never knew your concern as I don't really use these Wikia forums. I made it quite a while back as an activity feed, it got a bit popular. I'm not sure what is best to do...Tip.It have a TipItCrew account which they use CoTweet with, and a RuneTips account which is an activity feed, perhaps making a RSWikiStaff account would be good? I'm not too sure about handing over the actual account, but I can setup CoTweet and remove the activity feed if that is what you want. --Mil 16:26, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Comment - Awesome! Great that you replied :)! We'll be using RSWiki as the main account, and the activity feed will be moved to another account. The admins of the wiki may now decide what to do with the account, and we'll probably use cotweet, so we'll require a password, but please don't post it here, not everybody should know about it. Also, we'd prefer it if you'd hand over the account, as it name implies that it's the RuneScape Wiki's account. Of course you may also still use the account! Mark (talk) 16:35, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

coolio, all added and sorted. feel free to DM me from it with any update news / bits you want on twitter / free ice-cream you may have.

Comment - I agree that the best course of action to be taken would be the transferring of "RSWiki" to administrators and keeping it as a main updates account. And the creation of a Activity Feed account, with the feed (Mil could probably keep this). If we need to have an email address, I created a Wiki one for use on the YouTube Channel in beta phase (yes, still in beta phase). We could also link the Facebook and Twitter accounts (I think) so that Tweets end up on our Facebook page. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 05:12, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Who should I transfer the details over to? Once I know, I'll send over the details and stop the activity feed. :) Mil 14:39, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

I'm very impressed by your generosity :o   Swizz Talk   Events!   15:50, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Awesome! Would you like to create the new RSWiki activity feed account or should we? Could you send me a direct message with the details (or use Special:EmailUser/Tedjuh10)? I'll make sure that CoTweet is set up and that the admins will gain access to the account too. Mark (talk) 14:50, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - What will we put on it? Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 16:51, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - That's up to the admins. Announcements and major revamps/major new pages are logical. Mark (talk) 17:12, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Please give me some time to sort things about, very very busy right now.Mil 18:48, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - I have emailed Mark the details & password. Mil 16:38, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Allright, everything is set up. We may add 6 users to CoTweet. Could all admins who want to join in on the CoTweet please email me? The first 6 will be added, íf the community agrees of course ;). Mark (talk) 18:18, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Also, please sign your tweets with your name. Mark (talk) 18:42, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - The account has been created and is in use. Further CoTweet spots are available; please contact User:Tedjuh10 for details. Information about the account can be found here. Chicken7 >talk 13:00, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
