Per my helliosan vision earlier this year, the last mathemagical wall have been broken! We (me) can finally rip models!.

I assume most wikian here already know but just in case, every item in the game have a model , so that does means that can we now get in theory every detailed item images for every items that exist/have existed (in some cases). The tool by default do not have Anti-aliasing but since we can extract the model to traditional format we can load it up in a thing such as Cinema4D:

Sometimes it can get dark but we can just add lights if needed:

Well of course game screenshots are preferred over these, but many items nowadays only have a destroy option, the only way to normally optain a detailed image is by talking to a cat in draynor but it display the pic in a very small windows, I think in these case this method would be preferred.

Edit: I uploaded one pic created using this method here.

Well of course this does raise many question:

Should we use this method if needed?

Sub-title.

Sure: - Apparently one of the complaints on the survey is "dated images". This + A3Dlog (if it ever gets fixed) would help speed updating still image models --Jlun2 (talk) 21:13, August 14, 2017 (UTC)

This is amazing - Some DIIs look small and not that detailed, this will help a lot. Maximus Gugu of ArmadylQuick chat button.png: Your Friendly Neighborhood Artist. 17:33, August 16, 2017 (UTC)

Ok - Sounds good, but only for items that cannot reasonably get a normal DII from the game itself. These images should be tagged with {{advlog image}} for simplicity, I'd say. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 10:14, August 18, 2017 (UTC)

Support - use it, its way easier than getting DIIs from in game. The images seem to be equivalent (or better) than images that could be obtained in game so I don't see why they would need to identified with a template, they wouldn't need retaking. If for whatever reson it became possible to get a good image in-game, that'd be preferable. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 06:26, August 20, 2017 (UTC)
I agree with Fswe1, perphaps the template name Sshould be 3PI for 3rd party images?.

Method priority

I suggest this one: Game (if proprely obtainable like its droppable) > Cook's 3DALOG visual item dump > this method.

Discussion

Use this - It's better than the other methods, but it will overcharge the only person who can do this (you) in case of a big update. Maximus Gugu of ArmadylQuick chat button.png: Your Friendly Neighborhood Artist. 17:34, August 16, 2017 (UTC)

Method distribution

The method to get the item is in two part: the data ripper and the viewer/exporter. I do assume I am the only one here cabable to do 3D manipulation (when exported you need to "fix" the model before doing any rendering, should I keep the absolute monopoly on this method or distribute the ripper? (Please read extra information before commenting).

Open source- I really don't want people going suspicious and claiming it's a virus. Open sourcing it would at least make it more trust worthy + dispel "Wiki hacked me" comments --Jlun2 (talk) 21:10, August 14, 2017 (UTC)

Uh, I'm not the one who created it, just found the method around to get it around with rs, also I think realisticly only trusted long term wikian will be entrusted with these, imagine the chaos if the dude over rs fan fic wiki get them but seriously, this not a thing designed for the casual crowd with all the stuff involved.

It's an image viewer; it doesn't give any advantage. If it did, the A3D log method would've been patched ages ago (them breaking it on accident isn't patching; they mentioned they lack budget to fix atm). --Jlun2 (talk) 17:31, August 16, 2017 (UTC)
Just make it open source for everyone. Stop having an elitist attitude. It is a useful tool for ALL editors, not just ones that have The Wikian jayden 19:19, August 16, 2017 (UTC)
Oops, I though you meant like open source code wise, but ye I will probably release the method and tutorials. 1wDmkih.png  Manpaint of the RPU (t)(c) 19:53, August 16, 2017 (UTC)

3D Manipulation - I think you would be surprised at how many other RS Wiki users and RS players could contribute/help with 3D manipulation/rendering/etc... I could probably take this on - just let me know. Zahti (talk) 02:24, August 17, 2017 (UTC)

Anti-Alising settings

There is multiple settings:

I personally see zero difference but apparently it is supossed to change.

Extra information

  • The ripper rip stuff from memory so let we can theorically get detailed th items before they are even in-game.
  • I can theorically get every items to some extent because.
  • The thing rip also rip stand alone texture and sprites.
  • It alsp produce maps like these:

Closed - There hasn't been a lot of discussion on this thread, but the general consensus is that this method can be used. Settings like anti-aliasing, and the priority of methods to use, are subject to RS:IMG and RS:UCS. The methods and tools involved in this should be made open source so that other editors can take advantage. Thanks, Manpaint jayden 23:36, August 20, 2017 (UTC)
