Forum:Net Neutrality (again)
- Previous thread: Forum:Stop WC Docket No. 17-108
- Quick overview
Once again, net neutrality is under fire in the US. While not a US citizen, I know that the impact of this would be felt throughout the world and would set a precedent for other countries to change their own laws.
We've been over this many times - the FCC are trying to abolish net neutrality and allow internet providers and governments to block access to websites and/or slow them down, and even charge fees to access websites. I don't want to make this into any kind of political thread, but it's important that this topic is publicized as much as possible because of the impacts for everyone, including gamers.
The FCC will vote on new rules which threatens net neutrality on December 14th. If you feel strongly about net neutrality and you live in the US, you can contact your local representatives and learn more on Battle For The Net. The Electronic Frontier Foundation also have a handy lightweight tool for doing that too, found here.
The RuneScape Wiki has collectively supported net neutrality in previous threads on Yew Grove, so this thread is a proposal to do the same again. I propose that, like before, we place notices on the main page and in the rail. I do not think we should change the logo as we have done previously, as there isn't really a "day of action" this time around, but I do think we should make the aforementioned effort to inform readers about net neutrality.

Closed - We'll add a call to action in the rail and on the main page, lasting until December 14th. I'm going to avoid changing the logo as to not conflict with any slight winter theming changes we may want to do in December jayden 21:45, November 27, 2017 (UTC)
