When people think of money-making, usually bossing comes to mind. A 'new' method of money making has been brought up which does not involve bossing, or even any skill level requirements at all.

This page I believe is very misleading, as it promises 18m coins, when that case is very extreme. In order to achieve 18 million an hour, you must have 20 people buying royal dragonhide for you, as the limit of dhide is 10,000 per 4 hours, and you need to tan atleast 60,000 to reach the 18 million profit mark.

You may argue that there are ways to bypass the buy limit, such as multiple people, leaving your computer, but you can also argue that you can surpass 8m an hour at araxxor by getting constant 2:28 Solos. In order to get that consistently, you must stall adrenaline, get araxxor down to 20kish hp, natural instinct, dragon battleaxe spec, you get the point. possible does not mean plausible for most players. An extreme should not be listed as a money making method. this method at most exceeds 800k an hour (estimate).

Perhaps a disclaimer of sorts is needed to tell the viewer that you can't do this without a stock of hide/whatever already? --Talk to Kelsey 23:23, October 20, 2017 (UTC)

A disclaimer should not be needed, as a money making guide should not have to require multiple people. assuming everyone knows about this new 18m an hour meta, and everyone is trying to do it for themselves, what will you do? have alts? that requires additional money, lowering the profit per hour below the 18m mark. An average joe will most likely use this to buy 10,000 royal dragonhide every 4 hours, which including the 3hours nothing is buying, averages to about 750,000 an hour/3m profit per 4 hours, which is realistic compared to the 18m an hour. I agree there should be a disclaimer, thought there was one even. That doesn't mean the guide needs to be removed or changed. It is far more than 800k gp/hr. The effective rate for someone with good attention to the process is represented in the guide. Time spent waiting for hides to buy isn't included in this. It's not like you would literally be sitting there waiting for them to buy, go do something. This is the same idea behind these. Also, the 60k hides an hour is 80% of what has been proven possible, I don't find that unreasonable. Law rune.png Samberen Nature rune.png 23:37, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
whether you are waiting for the hides or not, that needs to be accounted for in gp/hour. you don't say invention is 200m xp per hour because you spent the time stocking up on level 10 equipment for months just to get all the exp at once. Manhattan2 (talk) 23:43, October 20, 2017 (UTC)
You're right, I don't say Invention is 200mxp/hr, but that's because I'm directly spending time leveling up tools, weapons, and armor. Not because I don't understand what an effective rate is. Even if you only spend 10 minutes every 4 hours tanning hides, that's 10,000 hides tanned in 10 minutes, still the same gp/hr rate as doing 60k all at once. Sitting around waiting for the GE to update your transaction doesn't occupy your time, it just requires it to pass. Law rune.png Samberen Nature rune.png 23:51, October 20, 2017 (UTC)

Why not just change it to a recurring method instead? Superiosity the WikianQuick chat button.png : Yo 10:46, October 21, 2017 (UTC)

Perhaps include a section with values to reflect the buy limit, but leave the rate alone? Performing the task for 10 minutes would still yield the same hourly rate. That way users would know that they would either need to stockpile hides, or process hides in smaller quantities at a time. --Chicagolight (talk) 21:43, October 21, 2017 (UTC)

Comment - Just because a method like this is difficult to achieve consistently (in this case, as brought up, due to buy limits) doesn't mean that it isn't an effective method, nor does it mean that the results it proposes are unattainable. Granted, I think in the full text of the guide it should mention that there are buy limits and that the maximum profit may only be achieved through the stockpiling of hides, that doesn't make the guide "misleading" in the sense that what it proposes is not impossible, or even implausible. While guides should contain all of the relevant information about using that method, users must also exercise some of their own judgement when deciding which methods work well for them based on short-term and long-term goals. I think this point brings up a much bigger point that all of our money making guides to do with a bit of an overhaul in terms of categorization. As Superiosity said above, we do have two sections currently for hourly profit and for recurring methods. Maybe this method would be better off if written as a recurring method; or, perhaps there is a different new category this should fit into? I can understand how the "hourly profit" could be misleading for some, but I also don't think that this is a drastic issue that requires any immediate attention, so much as it brings about the point that our guides in general need some attention. Just my thoughts.  RS AdvLogMyles Prower  Talk 18:12, October 24, 2017 (UTC)

Comment - Maybe the 'amount of gp made per hour' should be (Limit purchasable from G.E. per hour) -BETWEEN- (Max physically possible per hour). So, it would be something like "750,000GP-18,000,000GP" in this case. Internetboxwiki (talk) 05:22, October 26, 2017 (UTC)

I agree with this a lot. I think that the rate of which you can tan hides an hour should stay the same, but that the profit you gain per hour should be realistic for one person consistently doing this method. If you buy things in the GE you are not actively tanning hides, making it a recurring method, where as if someone were to do this method for 24 hours starting from nothing, it would average 800k an hour. You can't just decide to mix the two together without labeling them apart, such as saying graardor is 500 kills an hour if you are fletching in between kills, you aren't actually killing graardor so the kph is 500!! you are doing something else in the meantime. That sounds stupid and it should either be lowered to reflect the buy limit or be called a recurring event. Manhattan2 (talk) 06:13, October 26, 2017 (UTC)

Comment - As it stands, this thread will soon be closed as "no consensus" unless there is a mutual agreement on how to handle this. jayden 14:20, October 26, 2017 (UTC)

Closed - There is no consensus in this thread for any changes, though it may be worth adding a disclaimer to pages like these to prevent confusion. As this thread only relates to one specific article, it may make more sense to leave a message on the article's talk page in future unless making a proposal that impacts multiple articles jayden 18:22, October 28, 2017 (UTC)
