I asked Liquid helm about this forum and he (she?) said to make a Yew Grove on this if it was major and not if it was unimportant but I don't know if it is important or not so I'm just going to make this. This is my first Yew Grove thing, btw. </rambling>

The thing at the top of the Recent changes used to be a giant blob of text, so I changed it a few months ago to try to make it readable. Apparently, some people thought it was crap, so they made their own version. Should we redo MediaWiki:Recentchangestext? --Iiii I I I 00:24, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion

Comment - First of all, I'm not Liquid helm. Second of all, I'm male. Third of all, congratulations on finally participating in a community discussion in a meaningful manner. --LiquidTalk 00:26, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

thx hunny =D --Iiii I I I 00:26, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - There is no need to redo the recent changes text. Your change is decent in that it actually categorized the links. I take issue with the new proposals that you mentioned because they remove too many useful links that users may want. Of course, I doubt anyone will bother to read through all of that anyways, regardless of which version is used, so it's a moot point. --LiquidTalk 00:28, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Per helm. 222 talk 00:31, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Your version is easily the neatest and most useful. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 01:43, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Comment The only problem with the current recent changes page is there is no link anywhere to user of the month. Or am I just not seeing it?User:Degenret01

Waa.... - Nao wat did i du 2 u? What I wanted was explained in the talk page. While it matters little to me now (still looks terrible on Wikia phone), did you realize that when designing content it should be for 980px and no more? This is for the increasing mobile browsing perspective, too bad you cannot change it as one would with a css/js hack or at least one I know of. Ryan PM 03:01, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Here's a thought... use you phone for calls and not the web. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 03:08, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
What you talkin' 'bout Willis? I own an iPhone because I want to use the internet when I don't have access to a conventional computer. Many, many people browse from the Google Android, Apple iPhone & et al. There is a reason someone owns an iPhone of Android and pays the bills for more than just talk or text. Oppose - It's looks great right now, and all links are conveniently organised. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 03:08, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Actually, what the administrators need to do is ask Wikia for the click-tracking data (although for some reason they can't give you access) of those links. This is to remove links rarely used and optimize those that are. In that case, might as well put Special:Randomincategory with a category seen as popular to double the amount of clicks. People seldom click "articles" or "content"; they don't have the same connotations such as "characters" or "walkthroughs" to the reader. Ryan PM 03:13, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Per Helium. Its fine as it is. Also, nice incorporation of the word 'moot'. - [Pharos] 00:45, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - The talk page for the recentchanges text was invented for a reason; this discussion should be there. Talk pages are made specifically for discussing changes to the page, hence that is where this should be. If you want it to have more exposure, tag it with {{RFC}}. Beyond that, I'm pretty neutral on this. ajr 01:33, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

No one ever reads MediaWiki talk pages. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 22:11, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Support - I actually liked it better as a big blob. The way it is grouped now, I still can't find the links I am looking for. I suggest we simplify the Recent Changes text into only about ten important links. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 22:11, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

So how would you want recentchangestext to look? --Iiii I I I 02:25, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Question - Is there any way it can be customized on a per-person basis? Like by using a script or modifying User:Example/monaco.js? kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 22:16, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

No. ajr 22:26, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Neutralish - I did prefer the old RecentChanges text, after all, I had been using it for all the time I had been here. Nevertheless, looking back, it did look slightly crowded and crammed together. Oh meh. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 08:19, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Notice of intent - This will be closed soon, as there really isn't anything left to discuss. I'll leave it open, though, if some kind of meaningful discussion actually starts. --LiquidTalk 22:08, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - Nothing interesting happened. --Iiii I I I 23:47, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
