I made a navbox for just the lore items that are required for the upcoming master quest cape.

The navbox:

Any feedback is welcome! Farming-icon.png Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 19:03, November 25, 2015 (UTC)

Oppose - the following is my opinion on this:

 • Overdoing navboxes will leave us with a pile of them under every article, and then no one will use them or even look at them. They are best suited for groups of pages made for the same type of content or closely related to a single subject. The true power of a navbox shows when you can exhaust a particular topic and the navbox is relatively compact - clear and readable. To sum up: some topics are too large or too diverse to present the info properly in a navbox. This is the case with lengthy requirement lists, such as Comp/MQC requirements.
 • Another important fact is that if you have a piece of content (example: MQC) with many varied requirements, the requirements in themselves are not related to each other in any strong sense (our example: Scabaras research and Astea frostweb's diary are inside the same navbox - but why? They aren't related at all!). The requirements are only directly related to the central page (in our example: the MQC page). Following this, it would be reasonable to put your navbox only on the MQC page. But wait! - all these requirements are already listed there in a form of a table. This makes the navbox completely pointless.

I'm inclined to agree that navboxes as they stand are far too cluttered and increasingly large enough that no one will ever read them. There comes a point where the info in them should be moved to a page. cqm 22:15, 25 Nov 2015 (UTC) (UTC)
What about putting container navboxes around a group of navboxes on pages like King Roald like here. Farming-icon.png Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 23:02, November 25, 2015 (UTC)
He's referring to the size of individual navboxes. But either way... wrapping all navboxes is a bad idea. MolMan 23:05, November 25, 2015 (UTC)
I misunderstood what Cqm meant. If a navbox is too big then it could be split into more navboxes or have subnavboxes that can collapse, e.g. Prifddinas (split) and Template:Divination (collapsable). I'd prefer to make it collapsable though in most cases. Because this way it has all links/info and is not cluttered. I don't think navboxes should be rammed full of images, have navboxes within navboxes or be more than 2 labels deep. I really don't think it's necessary to have every little thing in a navbox, but haven't got around to looking at analytics data to see how they affect bounce rate to make a decision either way. Less is sometimes more. cqm 08:07, 26 Nov 2015 (UTC) (UTC)

Comment - I thought of the following, instead of this beautiful navbox, we can add a "Required for" section, like some quest pages have, to pages that are or contain requirements for the MQC, comp, and trimmed. I'm on board with that idea. cqm 23:53, 29 Nov 2015 (UTC) (UTC)
How do you feel about a category for pages that are or contain a requirement for either of those capes? Farming-icon.png Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 03:21, November 30, 2015 (UTC)
I've no issue with that. It could make the list of reqs easier to update, assuming we used DPL. Although, I'm not sure how well DPL plays with lighttables (Saftzie might know if (s)he happens to read this) cqm 08:25, 30 Nov 2015 (UTC) (UTC)

Close plox - Seems like we've come to a solution of adding a "Required for completing" section and adding the appropriate category to the article, e.g. :Category:Master quest cape requirements, :Category:Completionist cape requirements, and/or :Category:Trimmed completionist cape requirements. Closed - Issue has been resolved. --LiquidTalk 05:39, December 8, 2015 (UTC)
