So the other days I was browsing the map category and found that loads of map were unupdated, I will personally update map if they are pre-rs3/pre icon update when I will get the time (im also extracting a map of the game world from the cache). But a quesion is bubulling my mind, should we take the map in nxt for java (unless its sdome obsure quest area then I presume java because they are accesible)? The mini-map in nxt is more detail but the world map is in normal graphics. I personally think we should go for java since things are more visible and more simple. What are your though?

Comment - Decide on an ad hoc basis whichever looks best, I suppose. Looking at Special:NewFiles, some of the recently uploaded maps (good job Isobel!) look a bit odd, especially ones that aren't on the ground floor (usually the stuff that isn't on the actual floor itself is black), presumably that's just NXT looking bad. Comment - I am already working on Category:Maps: standardising the file names and attempting to better organise the maps into subcategories. There are many maps which are obsolete and not up to our current standardisation, so I will be updating the files as well.

Most location type maps can be taken off the world map, which appears the same in Java or NXT. Minimaps should only be used when the location does not appear on the world map, usually this is only because you are not on the ground floor or in some dungeons. The minimap looks the same in NXT or Java (I assumed you were not thinking of the legacy mode minimap which is noticeably different?) except with the blacking out of lower floors in Java minimaps and that the NXT minimap can be zoomed in.

I do agree that having the lower floors there can be confusing. However I just don't think that's a big enough issue to have us take the images using Java. With the Java client being phased out at some point that is going to mean that the files are obsoleted and retaking them again. It is simply not worth doing that considering the amount of time that goes into removing all the NPC dots and straightening out the weird minimap tilt. I also think being able to zoom in the minimap to make the files' zoom standardised similarly to those taken from the world map is a benefit in using NXT: I think they look better than this. Closed - People aren't too interested in commenting, but in general NXT seems better from a practical standpoint. Great deference will be given to the people actually doing the mapmaking. --LiquidTalk 19:48, April 5, 2017 (UTC)
