A short suggestion here. I suggest we add the amount of lp healed by foods to the infobox. This info is usually quite hard to find, usually hidden somewhere in an opening paragraph of the article. I can imagine it is easier to see what the food heals when we got this in the infobox. Most articles about cooked fish have a seperate infobox in the article which says how much the fish heals, but most other foods don't. As I don't think

Comment - You should provide an example of how this change will alter the appearance of the infobox on food articles. Matt (t) 22:35, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Just read that back and my argument is invalid. Anyway, Support per nom. Matt (t) 22:37, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
I hope you get it.Wink JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 22:57, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - Wouldn't it be better if it said "Yes, heals foo1 lp"? Matt (t) 22:39, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, yes. I changed it from "Yes, (number) lp" to "Yes, heals (number) lp". kthxbai JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 22:57, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - I'll only support if it's changed to "Yes, heals {edible} LP." (note the "LP"). Wink Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 23:21, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose lp, support otherwise - I do not think lowercase abbreviations have any place in our articles, and definitely not the infobox. LP just looks so much more professional than lp does. --LiquidTalk 02:09, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

I support this - It's useful and I see no point not to have it. -Hourglass (2011 Hallowe'en event) detail.png I Am Me Talk III The Spark.png- 11:05, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Support - Only HP, not lp. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 13:00, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

What? HP are obsolete for quite some time already... Why would we be using them? Or did you mean "only LP, not lp."? JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 15:45, April 22, 2011 (UTC)
Oh, right. Still not used to new HP system, which is stupid. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 09:39, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - How would this handle food items that heal variable amounts like Thin snail meat, or that heal in multiple bites like Cake? Obsidian charm.png Magma2050 T C E Obsidian charm.png 18:19, April 24, 2011 (UTC)

Insert "Yes, ... to ... LP" or "Yes, ... LP per bite". JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 00:12, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
May I suggest "X LP over Y bites (Total X*Y LP)" where X*Y is of course calculated and displayed as the final number not the formula? Also, do we really need the word "Yes" in there, given that any other content in the box other than "No" means yes implicitly? Obsidian charm.png Magma2050 T C E Obsidian charm.png 09:27, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
It's important to state if the food takes multiple bites to consume, so this should not be removed and not put as one number. However I agree the "Yes" is unnecessary. Fletching-icon.png Iceslide123 Fletching cape.pngFree UGCs
I wasn't suggesting that the number be only given as the final total, only that the wikia's maths capabilities are used such that all you do is type in the two values of "LP healed per bite" and "Bites per item" and the whole thing is filled in without you having to also add "Total LP healed by item" as well. For example (and please forgive me for any displayed ignorance, everything I know about wiki syntax is what I've gathered copying what you guys have already done here): If you supply the "Heals" parameter with "4" it would give "4 LP" as an output in the displayed table, but if you supplied it with "4|3" it would give "4 LP, 3 bites (Total 12 LP)". Can such a thing be made to happen, with the template detecting whether a second parameter is being passed to it, and changing its output text according to its absence or presence? Yes it would be possible, but really its going over the top in complexity of the code when a manual override already exists. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 00:22, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
We could go with something like |heals = 6x2 and {{#if:{heals}|{{#explode:{heals}|x|0}} LP{{#if:{{#explode:{heals}|x|1}}|, {{#explode:{heals}|x|1}} bites ({{#expr:{{#explode:{heals}|x|0}}*{{#explode:{heals}|x|1}}}} total LP)}}|}}. That would do what he said and not affect current uses of the template. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 01:01, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
Don't try to make it easier by making it more complicated. This would also require users to remember the correct documentation for that parameter, which is unneeded. Just let them enter the things manually, and don't mess with that kind of code. With that things could go wrong quite easily without it being spotted by antivandals: "Oh he just changed 6x2 to 2x6... should be ok. Next edit..." could easily happen. Just let people stop being lazy and type those few extra characters. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 01:10, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
Updated code: {{#if:{}|{{#iferror:{{#expr:{{#explode:{heals}|x|0}}{{#if:{{#explode:{heals}|x|1}}|+{{#explode:{heals}|x|1}}|}}}}|{heals}|{{#explode:{heals}|x|0}} LP{{#if:{{#explode:{heals}|x|1}}|, {{#explode:{heals}|x|1}} bites ({{#expr:{{#explode:{heals}|x|0}}*{{#explode:{heals}|x|1}}}} total LP)}}|}}|}}. "|heals = 4" will give "4 LP", "|heals = 4x5" give "4 LP, 5 bites (20 total LP)", "|heals = Random amount each time" give "Random amount each time", and "|heals =" or the parameter missing will not show anything. Comment - Isn't this what Infobox Food is for? Or is that not practical in some cases (and if so why can't it be made more practical). Henneyj 16:38, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

What? Wow it already existed. Well, it's not practical imo, and like is said above, it's better to have consistency for all items. It would be better to give all info given on other item pages, and for food it would have that extra information. No need for a seperate infobox imo. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 19:57, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Closed - The parameter will be added to the Infobox Item template. Suppa chuppa Talk 07:34, April 29, 2011 (UTC)
