This is probably the last Legacy thread. I'll be brief - let's not get sentimental.

Right, so recently Legacy got old animations. While we should obviously continue using the EoC animations and stances for equipped item images, one can argue that we should use Legacy stances for items like staves and banners, due to the awkward way they are held in EoC (compare the stance of this to this). Additionally, Legacy now has proper spell animations which are objectively better than the EoC ones, really (Legacy got the animations like this back, while EoC has...crap). So here are a few options on what to do:

Equip images

  1. Use EoC stances only regardless of the item, for consistency
  2. Use EoC stances by default unless the item is held/wielded/worn/etc. much more visibly/clearly/logically/etc. in Legacy, in which case use Legacy
  3. Completely ignore whether the stance is Legacy or EoC and just do something

Spell animations

  1. Use EoC spell animations
  2. Use Legacy spell animations
  3. Use both, separately, for each spell

Discussion[edit source]

Support 2 for both 2 for equip, 3 for spells - As nominator. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 07:47, July 11, 2014 (UTC)

Support 1 for both and 3 - Per discussion in S:C. Temujin 07:58, July 11, 2014 (UTC)

Support 1 for equips and propose 3 for spells - If the spell animations are going to be different for EoC and Legacy, then I think we should have both represented on the page. This won't be a case of "old animation" and "new animation", this will be "two different animations in use simultaneously in the same game, dependent on play mode". The EoC spells could be in <spell name>.gif (as they are now), or <spell name> (EoC).gif, and the Legacy ones could be in <spell name> (Legacy).gif. I'll add that. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 08:23, July 11, 2014 (UTC)
Support - Same opinion as Ansela. Option 2 for equips can potentially lead to revert wars on which on is "better". --Jlun2 (talk) 09:05, July 11, 2014 (UTC)

Support 1 and 3 - If the spell animations are different for Legacy than they are for EoC, then both should be shown on the spells page. pjJ4pBM.png Abyssal vine whip.png 12:01, July 11, 2014 (UTC)

Question - Is it possible to do the animations as separate tabs? For example: if you look at some of the NPC pages who have more than 1 graphical look, there is a button that would flip between NPC Pic 1, NPC Pic 2. Similar for tiered weapons, as Tier 1 shows that look and stats, Tier 2 shows the updated look and stats ... Here, you'd created a Legacy and EoC type tab/button--Deltaslug (talk) 14:52, July 11, 2014 (UTC)

Well, you kinda answered your own question there, giving all those examples of switchfobox use.
I don't like the idea of using the switch infobox when the only difference will be the animation, though. It's rather pointless when we could simply either add a parameter for the legacy animation to be displayed underneath the EoC one, or remove the animations from the infobox entirely and put them in a gallery somewhere on the page. 1 and 3 - For consistency and for proper documentation, respectively. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 17:34, July 14, 2014 (UTC)

Support 1 and 3 - Clearly consistency is preferred and a notification that some weapons are equipped different in Legacy should address that. Reg sf vynce (talk) 01:16, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

1 and 3 - Consistency. -- Recent uploads SpineTalkGuest book 03:47, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

Closed - Legacy is here so I'm going to go ahead and close this. 1 and 3 will be implemented into RS:IMG. That is, EOC stances are to be used for equipped images, and both the EOC and Legacy animations are to be used for spell animations, separately. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 17:22, July 16, 2014 (UTC)
