We have to agree an the capitalization of the company... producer... whatever. I go through articles showing all different capitalization of the word. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 22:20, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Jagex per Wikipedia:WP:MOSTM. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 22:26, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Can you please cite which part of that you think justified "Jagex"? I only found this part: Trademarks in CamelCase are a judgment call. CamelCase may be used where it reflects general usage... which potentially contradicts your conclusion. Endasil (Talk) @  23:46, April 22, 2010 (UTC)
Found it myself. Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official". JAGeX wasn't really an example of CamelCase anyhow, I suppose. Endasil (Talk) @  23:47, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Jagex - It's the official name, and there is no variation of it currently shown on any of their sites other than forum posts by others. ShinyUnown T | C | E 22:43, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

They are allowed to do fun things with their logo, but they officially use Jagex. Ajraddatz Talk 23:04, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - It stands for Java Gaming Experts so the proper name would be JaGeX, however they seemed to have dropped the distinction and made it JAGEX or Jagex, so we should as well. Cap and goggles.pngTEbuddy 23:07, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Ok this seems like its gonna be "Jagex". The other version would be annoying to type Shift, dont shift, shift, shift, dont shift!Some1 archive this sucker. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 23:12, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Jagex - Using what it stands for is not a good idea in guiding the discussion. It's stood for the following over the years:

  • Java Audio & Graphics EXtension
  • JAva Gaming EXperts
  • Just About the Gaming EXperience

Given that the copyright states 'Jagex' I suggest we use that King Runite1 13:29, April 23, 2010 (UTC)

Now they actually use "JAGEX Gaming Experts" on their website: [1]Hello71 20:41, April 23, 2010 (UTC)

Jagex - I am quite sure that that is how the J mods on the Forums spell Jagex now, and they should know. It isn't just lazyness as they spell RuneScape with the capital S. Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 00:34, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

--Request for closure - RS:SNOW. >_> We're all inclined toward one choice. It seems the community seems fine with "Jagex" and there are no supports for other versions. Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 03:25, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

That policy doesn't apply here; this isn't refuting an existing policy, it is creating one - with near unanimous support for one of the choices. Ajraddatz Talk 03:34, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
It also applies to this situation, it's been used just like that quite a few times before. It's just we're lazy and forgetful, so it was never updated. LZOVJBucket detail.pngrwojy 03:37, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
[edit conflict] >_> Refuting an existing policy? Creating another? Wut?
I thought we were all just answering Evil's question of "How do we spell Jagex?", which would then be used throughout the wiki. This doesn't need to be a policy in itself, at most it should be part of the style guide. And since we all seem to agree on "Jagex", then RS:SNOW is starting to show here. JaGEx, JAgEx, JaGeX, and the other many variations obviously don't seem to have a "snowball's chance in hell" in winning. That's what I meant by "RS:SNOW", but I've changed my request to be slightly clearer Concerned Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 03:45, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
The policy was originally written (on Wikipedia), to be used when a singular proposal or change to an existing policy didn't have a chance of working out in the first place. Always remember that you can only use WP:SNOW (Erm, RS:SNOW) if things would be no different if it had never been proposed. Ajraddatz Talk 03:55, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Well that's not how we use it here O_o We use it much more loosely. We don't restrict it to only policies and changes to them. I've seen many threads closed "Per RS:SNOW", and I'm sure those closers would agree with me. We are not Wikipedia, either. Anyway, we're getting off topic, I just think it should be closed because everyone agrees on the "Jagex" variation.
