this is about a ban rule that happening to me at the moment, i have a ban 7 days from irc, i have been obeying this rule for now, but i do auto join by mistake that because im on swiftkit, but i quit instantly, but i asked gaz today he said there a rule when u join the ban restarts, i would like to make a forum to change this rule, so this wont happen to others, the new rule should be if you join, you have 1 min to leave, and if u talk you get kicked and your ban is extended, this rule let the user quit and have a fair chance. in case of auto join, it a better rule, more fair, and gives user time quit. so dose this sound like a more fair rule? --Project Myface Parsonsda Talk | Sign Here | Project Myface Project Myface 14:26, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Summery: If user are ban from irc, and join, they got 1 min before they are kicked and ban is extended, if they join they talk it a instant kick and ban extended, this gives users a chance to leave.

Oppose - Couldn't you just stop SwiftKit from auto-joining? ɳex undique 14:29, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

yes but i have multi pc, all with auto join, i quit as soon as it join, but this could happen to other, for e,g you don't remember how long your bans for, and you join the ban get restarted, i don't find that fair. No, my point is that I'm pretty sure that you can disable autojoining. ɳex undique 14:39, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - As I have told parson, joining the channel while banned is ban evasion, whether this is due to changing your IP, changing your cloak, not logging in or whatever. By joining the channel you automatically know that all the people in the channel are online (evading the +i flag automatically set by freenode when you connect), thus allowing you to contact (and/or spam/continue what got you banned to start with) those. During the short time in the channel a bot could also generate a lot of spam. If parsons does not want to remove the channel from his auto-join list that is his choice (which will and has extended his ban), not a reason to open up loopholes in the system. Oppose - Just change your settings. If you're banned that means you cannot join the channel, not even for a split second. That's silly. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 15:33, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - Remove #wikia-runescape from your client's auto-rejoin list, and before you say you can't because as soon as you open the client it connects, disconnect from the internet before opening your client and then modify the settings. svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 18:41, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - Per Gaz, plus it would mean ops would have to be counting to 60 every time a banned user 'accidentally' joined the channel. Andrew talk 22:10, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - Change your settings. 222 talk 02:24, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Curious Why does the IRC channel not have a way of blocking banned people?--Degenret01 05:13, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

It does, but it's based on the hostmark, and a person's hostmark can change. svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 05:15, February 26, 2011 (UTC)
(In less technical terms) I don't know what a hostmark is, but I can probably guess what Zamorak means. In the IRC, a person is identified by a name and an "address" of sorts, in the form of [email protected] For example, mine is [email protected]/Liquidhelium. The name is usually irrelevant and blocking is almost never based off of that. Instead, we use the address. Since I've requested it, my address is a simple wikia/Liquidhelium and never changes, but someone who hasn't will have his address be based off of his IP address. Since we've found out numerous times in the block Parsons threads in the past, Parsons has a highly variable IP address, so each time that changes his "address" changes also. The block will no longer catch him in that case. --LiquidTalk 11:35, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Would it kill you to post constructively instead of merely trolling? --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 02:58, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Would it kill you to stop hating me? --Cakemix 03:07, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
You should stop treating this as a vendetta, as it is not. Please stop disrupting threads and leave it on talk pages. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 03:18, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Notice how last time I left something on his talk page I got banned, so no. --Cakemix 11:10, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Last time you edited Andorin's talk, it was trolling. What did you expect. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 17:01, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

No - If you are banned from the channel, the onus is on you to respect the ban, such as by removing the channel from your autojoin list. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 02:58, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - This is just begging to be abused. Don't get banned in the first place and there there will be no problems at all. --Aburnett(Talk) 21:07, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

Question: Would it be possible to get RuneScript to record how long a banned person was in the IRC? And if over 60 seconds it auto-kicks? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.62.124.9 (talk).

No, sorry. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 16:57, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose and Request for Closure - This is fundamentally flawed, and I believe will never be supported by anyone other than Parsonsda, let alone be passed.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hello71 (talk).

Closed - No changes will be made to this policy. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 04:01, March 6, 2011 (UTC)
