You might be aware there is an Dutch version RuneScape wiki ([[w:c:nl.runescape:]]), though it only contains a few interlanguage links. Since I'm running an pywikipedia bot, I'd like to lay up a network of interlanguages between the RuneScape Wiki and the Dutch version. That's why I'd like to request bot rights for my bot, called DRSBot (how typical).
It won't slow down the Wiki, it won't do any harm, since I'm using a simple pywikipedia commands.
So, I'd like to request a bot flag, if the community agrees. It already has a bot flag on the Dutch version. It'll follow these steps:
1) It searches a pagename that matches with an English pagename
2) It edits the page, and adds
3) It edits the English page, and adds
4) It saves the edits
Comment - And pages with different names on the wikis? And could it also works for other wikis (Spanish, Chinese etc...). Maybe even French, Portuguese or German, but then you would need to teach it those languages... Oil4 Talk 22:06, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Comment - I like the idea, and would support it. But wouldn't the English page names differ from Dutch? Or does it have some kind of built in translator? Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 00:13, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
- Support - I think it sounds good and am all worth for giving it a shot. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 04:52, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Comment - Well, I can focus on all Wiki's that don't have an translated version of RuneScape, because the item names will not differ, for example; because there is no Dutch translation of RuneScape, an "bucket" is still called a "bucket", though this differs in German or French. I can modify it so that it'll work on several language Wiki's, except for French, German and Portugese. Tedjuh10 (Talk) 13:39, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Support - Setting up these inter-language connections is a good thing, and it sounds like this bot will help link us up to the other language wikis.16:29, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Comment - I did some testing, and it seems pywikipedia dóés have an build-in translator. So I'll try running it too on the other language versions; don't rely on it to much though, it's far from perfect.
Discussion closed - As there is no opposition to this proposal and it has been more than a month since the last comment, I am considering this bot request to be approved. Congrats, Tedjuh10! I hope you get it to work for us and help the project! --Robert Horning 21:07, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
