We never really worked out some issues with Weekly Events before the proposal was passed and the Forum protected and Archived. This Forum is to work out those issues.

First things first, as said in the past forum, we can't have a SiteNotice forever. I suggested we have a section on the Main Page right next to "Recent Wiki News" that's a bulleted list that has the events for the month and the date they occur, then a little link at the bottom that says "Click here for more info." See the example below

Second, we need a poll to decide the F2P raid. Simple enough. See the example below

Last but not least, we need a log of past events to prevent repetition. See the Example below

Main page section

 • July 4 - Clan Wars
 • July 11 - Stealing Creation
 • July 16 - Pest Control
 • July 25 - Kalphite Queen

Event Log

 • Week 1 - Clan Wars
 • Week 2 - Stealing Creation
 • Week 3 - Pest Control
 • Week 4 - Kalphite Queen

I hope this proposal to edit the Weekly events to pass quickly, as the first weekly event is within a week. --— Enigma 17:45, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Support the given Ideas. I also think we need to label events as to how dangerous they are - from "safe" (Pest control), "Little or no Danger" (barbarian village raid, goblin raid, etc. Anywhere where you can potentially take damage, but dying would take a lot of effort), "Somewhat Dangerous" - Anything that can be dangerous to anyone under combat level of, say, 60; "Dangerous" - most of the raids and boss fights, and "Very Dangerous" - Things like GWD, Barrows, Corp Beast Raids, etc.

Also, as I suggested on the discussion page, we could have "back-up events" in case people get bored or the event is somewhy inaccessible. Maybe have the events from the next and previous weeks available as back-ups.

Finally, once an event has been chosen, it cannot be chosen again until all other events of it's kind have been played. That way we don't end up switching between Castle wars and stealing creation every other week. Now that's a throwing weapon!Doucher4000******r4000I'll eat you! 23:13, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment on your first paragraph: Good idea. We should add that to the schedule table. Comment on your second paragraph: I believe it was decided that the backup event would be decided on-site, because it shouldn't be too hard in the CC and whatever the players are in the mood for will be chosen. Comment on your third paragraph: it is already so. Once an event is chosen it will be removed from the voting polls until every other event of it's kind is chosen. --— Enigma 04:25, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Support - I wouldn't mind having a new section on the main page dedicated to weekly events, but some people may be opposed to it for various reasons so I'll wait to see what they say. As for the F2P raid poll, I'll go ahead and add it right now. And the log... maybe we could make a subpage called "RuneScape:Weekly Events/Log"?  Tien  12:32, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Support - Proposals by Enigma are good I support fully. Also, I think Tienjt0's proposal is a must in regards to the main page section being added. Strength-icon.png Hammer2092 Time |KOTA Bandos godsword.png 15:02, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Support - I agree that we should avoid repeating events every month. I think after any event is chosen it should be taken off the poll for about 5 or 6 months and then added back after that time, which would give plenty of time to cycle through many of our options. Also I think there should be a link to Weekly Events under the Community drop down list on the left side of the screen. Zaros tally.PNGBladeQuick chat button.png# 16:12, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Support - Since the main page is being redesigned, I don't see a reason not to add the "weekly events" to the main page. I've added the link to the sidebar of the monaco skin.   az talk   18:06, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Update: I've created a template for it (Template:Weeklyevents) and is currently used in RuneScape:Main Page.   az talk   18:18, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Some things still need to be sorted out:

 • F2P raid poll
 • Section on main page for weekly events
 • Events labeled according to their level of danger
 • Log of past events (see my comment above for my suggestion)

We could label the events now, but I don't feel like it at the moment. Anyone else is free to do so, but if no one does it, then I suppose I'll do it. Is there anything else we need to do? Unless I'm mistaken, the events start in just a few days. When they begin, I think I could put a message on the sitenotice for a couple days to get everyone's attention about the events. Afterwards, the weekly events section on the main page will do.  Tien  22:54, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

I think we should label the events once they've been chosen, and I think the polls for July's events should be replaced with the ones for August tomorrow (the last day of June) --— Enigma03:19, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
I could do the labeling, just tell me where. Oh, and an Idea just struck me - what if we do have a cycle, where all the weekly events repeat in a certain order? Now that's a throwing weapon!Doucher4000******r4000I'll eat you! 03:46, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Just replace the "Yes"es and the "No"s in the schedules with the appropriate phrases that you suggested once the events are decided tomorrow. And if the events cycled through each other, it would be boring. I think one of the reasons we vote is because we choose the event most users are in the mood for. So if that's what you're proposing as an idea, I Oppose it. --— Enigma 03:56, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
