Browser support

wikEd works under Firefox, SeaMonkey, Safari, and Google Chrome, but not under Internet Explorer and Opera.

## how to enable it on your user

copy the following code:

// install [[Wikipedia:User:Cacycle/wikEd]] in-browser text editor
document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
+ 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Cacycle/wikEd.js'
+ '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript"></' + 'script>');

and past it into:
have fun!

Actually, this would be shorter code:

 document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/index.php?title=User:Cacycle/wikEd.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript"></script>')  Hello71 19:38, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

The address has a typo, it should be:
document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Cacycle/wikEd.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript"></script>')

And here's an even better way:
importScriptURI("http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Cacycle/wikEd.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript");

## discussion

Comment - I spoke to Parsons in the CC and from what I gather, the purpose of this thread is not about whether the community wants his editing tools automatically enabled. It is asking whether individuals want him to enable it specifically on their accounts. ~  Sentry Telos Talk  09:53, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Comment *Beep* It looks confusing x_x FredeTalk 10:07, January 8, 2010 (UTC) reply - it looks hard, but when using it it easy, it basiicly highlights links and give you more tools

Questions Does limited time mean they will take it away? Or simply that we can't get it after that time? If enabled, how hard is it to change back if we do not like it?--Degenret01 10:10, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - It seems that this isn't compatible with IE, Mozilla seems fine though. Ruud (talk)(Suggest me naems) 10:55, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Why has it got my name? EDIT- Oh, guess I'm a bit tired. 13:03, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed link to the monaco.js file, it was not working for me =P 13:31, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Bah, as usual Opera isn't supported 13:41, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Also, its not a 'limited time offer' thing. Its an add-on script created by Cacycle on Wikipedia (further instructions located here and here). 18:00, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Haha, I saw my username in there and it scared the freak out of me lol! Makxtrl Talk 18:40, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Eh same here. I thought he was stalking me NnK Oliver (600613) talk 22:21, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
XD Same. I figured it had to be the {{USERNAME}} template though.
On a more on-topic note, I think this looks approximately ${\displaystyle 2^{47}\times 3^{12}\times 5^{4}\times 7\times 13\times 37=157393932566019188981760000}$ times better than the current RTE. In fact, I just might use it. But it would mean changing it back on computers with IE.
On an even less on-topic note, my browser's spell-checker flagged "math" in the math tag as incorrect. But it did provide an alternative spelling: mah. WTW? I'm a regular user and I approve this message.  TLUL Talk - Contribs 07:37, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, this has been an option on Wikipedia for a loong time now, it's just that nobody notices the "Try Beta" link. See, go to Wikipedia, log in, and click the "Try Beta" button in the upper-right corner. Also, his code simply copies the "Vector" theme from Wikipedia. Hello71 01:59, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

See my point?
