Ok, first things first. Please put this as a sitenotice as it is major. Anyhow, the faq pages aren't very active. So why not ask for another tab (like there is article, talk) that is faq? It would be a solution to all that stuff, and would be a useful addition to the wiki.Joe Click Here for Awesomeness17:26, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

As it is major. Just because you think it is doesn't mean everyone thinks it is. I don't really see FAQs as major since there are much questions to be asked in the first place. Most questions are generally covered in our articles.Santa hat.png Powers38 おはようヾ(´・ω・`) 01:16, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
It is major if we were going to have another tab, then it would need to go siternational. Joe Click Here for Awesomeness16:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Slight oppose - I don't really think that another tab is needed. Just place a small note on the top of your talk page and say that you need some help on all of those pages. ~MuzTalk 01:22, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Support - I still tink this is a good idea (yes, this was my idea, thanks for trying to put this into action). As for most questions being covered in the articles, yes, that is true, but this will be a quick way for finding information, directly what information you want. This will save skimming the wole article.Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 15:25, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I agree that it could be useful, but the problem is that I don't think it can be done, due to it not being part of the mediawiki software. To have it done I believe wikia would have to change their software (correct me if I am wrong and it can be done). If it turns out it can be done, I'm all for it. Comment - Actually, it can be done... using JavaScript. The thing is I'm not that keen on the idea. Tabs provide links that are related to the article ("edit", "history", "watch", etc.) The "FAQ" tab would seem out of place among the article-related tabs. As an alternative, why don't we add the FAQ link to the sidebar? In the Monobook skin, it would be located below "Help".   az talk   08:06, 14 May 2009 (UTC):

Az, I mean like there is Article and Discussion, there could be another one. I think you have missed the point a little bit.Joe Click Here for Awesomeness15:39, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I get it. You're proposing having FAQs for all the main articles? Then I would Oppose the idea. The whole point of an article is for users to read. If you're looking for a particular information, just use the "search" button/feature in the browser. In addition, you could always ask in the talk pages, or read the talk page to see if the question has already been answered by other users.

Another concern is the potential of bias in the FAQs. What if a question has multiple answers. For example, "How should I start training Ranged?" (Taken from [[FAQ/Ranged]].) Although the answer given in that page seems okay, the answer may differ depending on the player.

Personally, I feel that we can include important Q&As in the article itself, probably a section on its own ("Frequently asked questions") near the bottom of the article. Unless they are tonnes of articles with its own FAQs, adding a tab specifically for FAQs is pointless.   az talk   16:57, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Alot of people are ignorant or can't be bothered to read it properly/just want to know the answer to one question, so an FAQ just puts it out short and simple.Joe Click Here for Awesomeness11:48, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Oppose As Az above --Serenity1137 19:24, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Az, those are the questions we will NOT include. We will make straitforward, 'closed' questions. Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 15:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Comment Here is a maybe pic that I made:
Any good?Joe Click Here for Awesomeness10:11, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

That's the exact sort of questions and layout that we are talking about. Good job! Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 17:57, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello? Can we have some activity?Joe Click Here for Awesomeness13:39, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I found this: Help:Tab view. Maybe this could be used as FAQ tabs? Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 20:01, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

That might work although I'm not sure if it will place the tab in the same place as the screenshot given above. AFAIK adding the tab up where the "Article" and "Discussion" links are will require either a) a modification to PHP code or b) some javascript to add it dynamically, which will have accessibility issues. Also note that this will possibly require changes to all skins. --Quarenon  Talk 14:26, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Prehaps we should just put FAQs as a subheading under each article... But I still think a tab is a better idea. Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 14:52, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Oppose All the questions that people could be asked should be included in the page itself, if a user wants to know something they should read the article --Serenity1137 14:22, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

You already opposed it on 14 May: "Oppose As Az above --Serenity1137 19:24, 14 May 2009 (UTC)". Just to let you know. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 14:27, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - First of all, those questions are common sense and answered in the articles themselves most of the time. If someone has a question then they use the talk page and someone answers. The end. Andrew talk 14:41, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment - But it takes a few hours if nobody is on at the time! When you have a 10 million word article, do you want to read it all if you want to know a three word answer? Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 17:49, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

You're over exaggerating big time.. articles are never that long and they are organized by section to make it easier to find what you're looking for. Besides, if your only argument is that everyone needs the answers NOW then this gives me even more reason to oppose. Andrew talk 17:57, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
And there is a nice search button. I Oppose this, because it would make the articles redundant, as many people would just read the FAQ. Articles aren't made for nothing! Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 19:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Comment - With the exagerating, I was just making a point, but there are some prety long articles in this wiki. As for the people not reading the article, we didn't say we was going to put all the information into the FAQs, just a few facts people might not have known without reading the article.I'm Dockywho and I aprove this message! Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 06:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

If there are a few sentences that sum up what you need to know, that is what an introduction is for, or you could even have a 'this page in a nutshell' thing. I don't see why an faq needs is own tab rather than being included in the article. --Serenity1137 08:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Dock, you've still failed to present a valid reason for needing FAQ pages. You're now saying that people shouldn't read articles which defeats the purpose of having them. Without articles there is no wiki. Andrew talk 19:23, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Closed - We will not use FAQ tabs. C.ChiamTalk 06:23, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
