My name's Matthew, and I'm the owner ofRuneScapez; I'm quite interested in creating some sort of partnership between my fansite, and the RSWiki. I was speaking with Soldier1033, and he said the best way of going about this would be to post here, in your lovely forums. :P

Anyway, this partnership could be a simple link exchange, or something bigger; I understand that you haven't done anything like this before (to my knowledge, anyway) and hence, would like your opinion on what could be done.

Would user consensus allow this? If so, what would you like to do?

Thanks VERY much. =)

I can confirm that I talked to him about this. I think it would be very interesting to form some sort of a partnership with another fansite as we haven't ever done this with a site that isn't a wiki. I definitely support. :) Andrew talk 18:38, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
I am not sure whether this idea would work, as many other people would want to link with other fansites of their own and it would end up with massess that have no real connection - let one through and the rest will follow. I sadly reject, but maybe a comprimise could somehow be made! Goodison Goomba 18:42, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Aww, okay. =( Thanks for posting anyway. RuneScapez 18:50, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Support basic link exchange - So most of the wiki wants Jagex recognition as a fansite, but refuses to allow simple link exchanges with other popular fansites? Only positive things can come of linking our communities together. Cap and goggles.pngTEbuddy 01:21, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I think that's a good idea. :) Thanks RuneScapez 09:15, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Support link exchange - I feel that linking fansites would be helpful to all the viewers of both websites, as it would let one get a second opinion to be able to confirm a piece of information. ~MuzTalk 12:35, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Support link exchange - This sounds quite interesting. I definately see no problem with a link exchange. For 'somthing bigger', what do/would you have in mind? (To Goodinson) We can decide whether we should link exchange/whatever with another site on a case-by-case basis. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 21:44, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Oppose until policy is agreed - I oppose this link exchange until a policy is created on how it’s going to work and how people qualify to be added to the link exchange. There are literally thousands of Runescape fansites of varying quality from sites like Tip.It to one player blogs and ramblings that are badly designed with no meaningful content. I propose that a new box be added to the left column of the page below the “Community” box which shows the last edits etc. This would be an image similar to the “Featured wiki” button that is added by the Wikia corporation but instead would show small 200px x 75px buttons advertising the other link exchanged sites. These would show in a random order. In order to be added to the rotating list you must apply on some page which would be created explaining why you want to be added, what is special about your site and what is unique etc. Then community consensus will decide if it gets added to the roll or not. I worry that we have no influence on 3rd party sites and its content which could be against rswiki policies. --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 08:31, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I agree with the "partnership page" where others have to apply. But, instead of just having the other add stuff about their helpsite, we should have a small team of people that will go to these websites. They then will rate it on how much content is in it, how the quality of the content is, if the site is easy to browse, and other factors. If the website passes inspection, it can then go on. ~MuzTalk 11:02, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Oppose - As be Merciful. I agree that if we are linking sites we need to be completely aware of what we are doing. It's more then a simple exchange of links. Although I am not familiar with RuneScapez entirely, though I glanced over it, we don't want to be linking to sites that promote gold selling, botting, scams and cheats, or deter from this wiki's personal goals and morals. We should develop a policy on this if anything is to happen.

Comment - I took a quick look over it, looked at the forums, skill guide, and a quest guide, and I have not seen any of the "gold selling" "botting" or "scam and cheats" that you stated. Whether or not you meant it directly at them, or if linking to future sites later, but just wanted to state that I saw nothing that takes away from Jagex's rules. ~MuzTalk 20:30, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
No, it wasn't a reference to that site, just a point to be made. 01:47, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Support I like the idea and I see no reason why not as we already have sister sites listed and just because this is not a wiki does not mean we cannot form some sort of relationship with them. I do agree with bonzi that if we do this the sites should be checked out good to make sure we are not linking our visitors to any scamming/RWT sites. I have been through the site and found nothing like that. Zaros tally.PNGBladeQuick chat button.png# 21:57, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Comment - I think that we should start up a page that is named something like RuneScape:Fansites. This page would also include the requirements for a fansite. What I think the requirements should be, as stated above, is not to break any of the Rules of RuneScape. Whether it be through their articles, or through advertising, these wouldn't be allowed. As many fansites are indeed created, the owner should be able to limit ads on the website. Also, the pages must be well writen, and have a good amount of information on them. ~MuzTalk 22:53, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Support - This could be very interesting and beneficial. Also, we don't really have anything to lose. If this doesn't work out we can politely cancel the partnership. FTW! ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  21:27, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Support basic link exchange - I took a look a their website and they seem like a solid, informative, and rule-abiding site. Those are my requirements. I do think we should get some guidelines for link exchange hammered out so we can think about what other websites meet that criteria and if we want to be proactive about starting these partnerships. Support - For this any any fan site that 1. Has a decent amount of content and 2.(more importantly) follows rules at least similar to our for not encouraging cheating or scamming, and encourages following Jagex rules ingame.--Degenret01 10:12, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

This site lacks lots of original content. Infrequent updates.--Degenret01 09:08, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Comment - so.. it's been over three weeks and no response, is there any consensus yet? Andrew talk 15:32, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Website was last updated on Apr 8 2009 at 09:58 AM. Kinda seems pointless partnering with a website that isn't active. --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 17:52, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
It's definitely active, that's just the last news post. You should look around more before jumping to conclusions. ;) Andrew talk 19:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
There has been a lot of changes to Runescape since that news post and if the admin team can't be bothered to update the site with information about it then I dont see the point in linking. --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 19:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Also the person hasn't made any proper edits to this wiki so really has no other desire for a proper relationship other than us providing traffic to his site. --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 20:18, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Comment - So... are we exchanging links? ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  20:00, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Once again, stop jumping to conclusions Mercifull. Andrew talk 17:53, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
I am not jumping to any conclusions. They are statements of facts and I think people should go visit the site and see for themselves and see my points are valid. It takes less than an hour to set up a Runescape forum so it is the actual website activity I judge on and this site is not active at the original content level, fact. --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 08:41, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Also the person hasn't made any proper edits to this wiki so really has no other desire for a proper relationship other than us providing traffic to his site. Doesn't look like assuming good faith to me. That's jumping to conclusions if I've ever seen it. Andrew talk 15:32, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Oppose Linking to a website, that we do not know much about is a bad idea, especially one that isn't as active as us ‎Easter egg.pngAtlandy 18:01, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

We do update, we're just teenage administrators who've recently been doing their exams; we will begin to update again soon, we're simply waiting for our next batch of updates and then everything will be smooth again. :) RuneScapez 13:38, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
