I know on this Wikia, we don't have special pages for each player, but what about making a collective 'Famous Player Article' for all the old famous players, and new and recent, such as Zezima, Gertjaars, and the famous players which got the first 99s in levels, making them famous.

Thoughts? TzTok-Gas talk 20:08, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion

Oppose - RS:PLAYERS states that any player, regardless of current status/fame, has the potential to quit. Thus, players do not merit articles dedicated entirely to them with no game aspects at all. Our mention of players in the mainspace is sufficient only in the notes about first 99's and first 200 million xp's. --LiquidTalk 20:10, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Strong Oppose - If they are significant enough to mention we can NOT make them famous, they will have already made themselves famous. It's against policy as mentioned above. HaloTalk 20:12, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Request for closure - RS:SNOW HaloTalk 22:55, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

It's only been a few hours; I think it is better to wait a day or two more. Someone might have some good arguments. Chicken7 >talk 02:57, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry chicken but i dont think this stands a snowballs chance in hell..... 04:45, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
That's biased. It's your opinion that not one user in this wiki is going to have a good argument to support this proposal, or offer an alternative. But you obviously cannot know that for sure. What if Robert Horning was to come along and give a page length of arguments for this proposal? He wouldn't get the chance if it was closed before he could take a look at it, nor would many other users who don't check the wiki hourly. There needs to be an amendment to RS:SNOW to include the time factor. The only threads that should be closed instantly are ones that are not allowed here (listed on RS:YG) and "Previously Rejected Proposals". Chicken7 >talk 05:14, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Chicken. Sure, this may look like it has no chance in the hottest day in hell, but you have to at least let the snowball roll. Besides, there could be, as Chicken said, counterarguments. Zaros symbol.pngChaos Monk Talk SignCoins 250.png 19:13, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
If i wasnt being biased i wouldnt have said "i think", and yes chicken i suppose there does need an amendment....but there still hasnt been any support after one day 19:33, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
The argument is logically unsound: (We can make famous players famous? Ummm...if they are famous, us mentioning them won't help.) This is going against a policy, and that policy would need to be modified first. (Which is what this forum should be about, if anything.) And to Chaos...we let the snowball roll, it's been burned up into water vapour now. HaloTalk 20:00, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Part of what you mention is in fact covered in Skill mastery (aka Level 99) because those are quantifiable feats. Most other feats/reasons for being famous are completely subjective and subject to change; for example, I know a lot of the people who were hugely famous in 2001 because that's when I started playing. Are we really going to cover 10 years of RS history of famous people? What defines famous? This would be one of those things that, like Trivia sections, people love to edit under their own subjective view of notability but really doesn't belong on the Wiki. Strong oppose As per above, The most significant players on Runescape are mentioned around the wiki, especially in the 99 and 200m exp pages. Plus, I don't want another stupid page like the slang dictionary with an endless list of things. I dont really care which player was first to catch a red chinchompa or who the first player was to do some minor glitch that truly meant nothing. RSN: Warthog Rhys Talk Completionist's cape...
