I'd really like to see a database of equipment stats. (I don't mean all items, just equipable items.) The database should include the name of the image, and all combat stats. One purpose of this would be to ease the use of eg Robes of Subjugation#Equipment Stats, where one would simply pass the name of the item and the template would call up the stats from the database.

If this seems desirable / feasible, I could provide more ideas for usage, I'm sure.

Comment - Wouldn't the item compare function work for this? It may take slightly longer but it should work What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 14:40, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Support - Now who would be the generous fellow to code all of it? --Jlun2 (talk) 15:27, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

This isn't as feasible as it sounds... MolMan 15:53, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - It really isn't that difficult to use the search bar and scroll down for the stats. Sure it'd be lovely to have but it would be gigantic - there are hundreds if not thousands of items in the game and adding every single one would make an absolute behemoth of a page. A whole lot of effort putting it together for not a lot of uses in return really. Real Nub 16:13, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - (Hope I'm participating according to standard?) I believe I'm being misunderstood. What I was thinking was something like the GE database, so when a template requires stats, the stats aren't hard-coded into the template call, but the template is passed the item name, and then calls up the item database to receive the stats in return. eg: Template|Item|Abyssal whip, in stead of Template|Damage=23|Style=Melee|Speed=Fastest. (No, I have no idea how that would get coded.) --   For Camelot!  Zang! talk  My health! 18:59, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, I do... :-) --   For Camelot!  Zang! talk  My health! 19:00, June 26, 2013 (UTC)
That really would not work well at all... MolMan 19:02, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - I get the feeling what you're asking is very similar to's equipment builder calc? cqm 20:16, 26 Jun 2013 (UTC) (UTC)

This proposal seems to make little practical sense for us in that the semantics and work required behind this are ridiculously complicated and for little payoff. The first thing that pops into my head is how our Exchange pages currently work. We already hate our exchange pages (at least Cook does) because of how much unnecessary junk is actually being placed on the page just to show a price or a picture. There's no way to do what you want while still avoiding a large amount of unneeded code (unless we want sub pages, but for the love of God don't bring this up for this proposal). I also don't like how it isolates the information from its respective pages. Hate to tell ya this, but while this is technically feasible, the drawback is many orders of magnitude larger than the minimal benefits. MolMan 20:29, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

I don't have a problem with how the exchange pages work at all. --Henneyj 17:31, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
Do you understand exactly how they hinder page loads every time you need to fetch a price? MolMan 17:32, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
I know I don't, but I know they have an impact based on how long the page takes to load. Probably the best way to set it up with with something like SMW, but because a certain other wiki keeps overloading Wikia's servers (and the extension doesn't play well with 1.19+) it's no longer available. cqm 20:17, 27 Jun 2013 (UTC) (UTC)

Comment - Look, I'm willing to forget this. One of the main reasons I'd like to see it is because it is just getting harder and harder to figure out what would be the best equipment for me to get. eg If I go to the Magic page and look at the best armour. Well, yeah, that's the best armour, but how do I figure out which are the next options down the line? From my perspective, that problem needs, or would benefit from, a better solution than what I'm aware of. These, for instance, would at the least need to be split by Melee/Ranged/Magic...? --   For Camelot!  Zang! talk  My health! 12:01, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

That's entirely possible. Hell, I could pull it off without even making new pages. MolMan 15:30, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

Comment - This is similar to an idea I had a few years ago to create a new namespace for numerical data like item stats, level requirements, experience points earned for doing something with it, etc. The idea was to make calculator writing easier. If you're interested in trying something similar, I started working on it with the account User:Dataspace Project in its subpages. You could take ideas from that. Comment - Equipment tables does almost exactly the opposite thing, extracting the stats from all the individual pages. --Saftzie (talk) 04:45, June 30, 2013 (UTC)

Closed - No consensus to implement this. Suppa chuppa Talk 22:30, July 6, 2013 (UTC)
