For each enemy, could it be possible to multiply the chance of each drop by the G.E. price, then add these values to give the expectation for profit from killing one of an enemy? Personally I think it would be very useful when deciding which enemy to hunt. 109.150.163.60 00:33, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

That's a really interesting idea, and it's something that I'm sure would help immensely. Unfortunately, none of our monster pages have exact drop percentages; it's all soft stuff like Uncommon and Rare (see Forum:Drop logs for monster and item pages for more information). It may be worth a try to get some drop logs for certain bosses where drop expectation is an important thing (Nex, God Wars Generals, Dagannoth Kings) and maybe even look across the rest of the interwebs for drop logs of certain monsters. However, it's not something we could do for all monsters and would have to be very careful about it. ʞooɔ 00:51, November 27, 2011 (UTC)
I think it is an excellent idea, albeit one that would that huge amounts of work. However, as the Guthix's book of balance says, "A journey of a single step, may take thee a thousand miles". I'd probably start recording drops then, even though I'm not a big PvM fan. --Void Knight 13:54, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - If we can manage to get it working, it would be quite helpful and interesting to see how often certain monsters drop items. The best way to start would probably be to trial it on some commonly killed monsters, then if that works start logs for other monsters. The only problem that might occur is differences between f2p and p2p on some monsters which have members only drops, which could, depending on how drops work, affect the drop rate for all of their drops, and also the logging. This would be an amazing idea, as our community probably kills thousands of monsters each day. Maybe we could do what we do with charm drop percentages, and make sort of a percentage-to-time ratio? Jnacci 02:29, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

I'll start recording my drops again then, if apparently now people become more interested in percentages. If anyone wants, they are free to use User:Joeytje50/Drop logs as an index page to be able to find different drop logs more easily. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 09:46, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

I love the idea; I'll try to think about logging the drops while doing some slayer tasks. Sumurai8 10:00, November 28, 2011 (UTC)
I think you'll find Joey, that you might run into the same problems you did last time. Matt (t) 10:02, November 28, 2011 (UTC)
Joey, perhaps you should try to focus more on higher level boss monsters. The drop percentages of these monsters are probably a lot more worthwhile in figuring out than other lower level monsters. Suppa chuppa Talk 16:11, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - Per the previous thread on keeping drop logs. The data will be biased as people will tend to log when they get better drops. bad_fetustalk 17:12, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose see all the other entries about adding drop logs to pages. If you want to keep them for personal use, feel free. 16px‎AtlandyBeer.png 00:26, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose - It is too difficult to overall try and measure this. You would have to kill probably at least 10,000 of EACH creature in the game to try and get a basic picture. It is just too complex. MattTheCat 02:17, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

Closed - Proposal will not be implemented. Suppa chuppa Talk 21:44, December 13, 2011 (UTC)
