Forum:Disable the old visual editor
The old visual editor, which can be accessed with ?action=edit assuming it hasn't been disabled in your preferences, has long been the source of issues for us. Over the years, we've used an abusefilter to prevent particularly problematic bugs, and 2 bots to cleanup any resulting bad HTML in pages. I even ran an AWB task on every page on the wiki when it started breaking HTML entities.
Given it's longstanding issues and general lack of support given the newer visual editor, I would propose that we disable it and end the problems it brings.
Support - as nom. As an addendum for whoever closes this, please ensure to request the CKEditor or RTE be disabled, as opposed to VE (the newer visual editor also used by Wikimedia). cqm 07:49, 1 Jul 2016 (UTC) (UTC)
Support - Destroy it! (I know it's the old one, but still.)08:15, July 1, 2016 (UTC)
Support - I'm assuming that because you made this forum, we can actually do this without backlash from Wikia. MolMan 11:49, July 1, 2016 (UTC)
- I haven't checked, but it's been disabled elsewhere with community consensus, so I don't see why it wouldn't be disabled now. cqm 07:47, 2 Jul 2016 (UTC) (UTC)
Support - I strongly support this -
However, keep in mind that there are editors who just want to change a couple things and don't know anything else. I'm only bringing this up because there should be some sort of retcon solution, perhaps a page explaining in simple english the main differences between the visual editor and the source editor? Just to help give noob editors a sense of direction. That being said, I think it's time for the Vis-Ed to go. -- 14:24, July 1, 2016 (UTC)
- Too bad it's the old one that is going, not the new one, that one is staying. :(

- Oh, neat. Didn't even realise there /was/ a new one. Well that one should be deleted as well. -- 15:08, July 1, 2016 (UTC)
