Hello all,

I wanted to point out that there's some contrast issues in the Monaco skin with the Gaming theme selected. Here's the a preview of the main page, whose headers are barely readable. Tables with the "wikitable" class and the site notice also have problems, among various other boxes. Some site CSS needs to be changed so that anything with a background color also has a font color that contrasts with it. If some admins can take a look at this I'd appreciate it. --Quarenon  Talk 20:26, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Discussion

Support - CSS changes need to be made so it shows up correctly on all skins. Andrew talk 20:29, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Support - This is just like having a portable game system without a charger (which I recently experienced, it's horrifying). ShinyUnown T | C | E 23:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Support - If we ever use a custom Monaco we will need this fixed. - TehKittyCatTalk Wikian-Book 11:16, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Comment - I've partially fixed MediaWiki:Common.css by adding "color: black" for the text in wikitables. How about the light-coloured headers? Do they have to be fixed on the case-by-case basis, or is there a CSS solution for this?   az talk   09:15, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I've also fixed the font colour for links. The links in the SiteNotice should appear in blue now.   az talk   15:31, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I think it does have to be handled case-by-case. The gaming theme changed the base font color to white and now each element with a light background color needs to override it with a dark color Frown. The forum header box is another place where this happens (that one that says Forums: Index > Yew Grove > ...)--Quarenon  Talk 19:29, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Support - I agree with Andrew.  Panjy16 14:12, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Comment - I've fixed the normal font colour in the Yew Grove forum header, and also the link colours in:

Comment - Thanks for making the changes. The only places I can find problems right now are on the main page (I fixed the RS updates template but the other headers are controlled by IDs in Common.css) and the captions on wikitables (see any page with an infobox, like this randomly choosen page). --Quarenon  Talk 17:49, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't think we need to make changes to the Main Page just yet, since we are going to overhaul it soon (see Forum:Main_page_design_feedback). As for the infoboxes, I tried this and it works, but it looks ugly:

.infobox caption {
    background: white !important;
}

The HTML looks like this:

<table class="wikitable infobox plainlinks" style="width:30%; align:right; text-align:center;">
<caption> '''Green goblin mail'''
</caption>
<tr>

...

Any other suggestions?   az talk   04:44, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

I got this to work.
.infobox, .infobox caption {
	color: inherit !important;
}

.infobox td, .infobox th {
	color: black;
}

Found another issue with viewing diffs for the lines which are added or unchanged (example). I also found it on the notice on IP talk pages. Here's the CSS I applied to fix this:
.diff-context, .diff-addedline, #anontalktext {
	color: black !important;
}

Here is a fix that helps make polls easier to see.

/* Fix for polls */
.pollAnswerVotes span {
    color: black !important;
}
