Why isn't the "collapsible" feature working for me any longer? It stopped working earlier this week. It seems to have coincided with a change in how the Site Notice works. Though I'm sure that that is a coincidence, the Site Notice can no longer be hidden or dismissed. At least not for me. -- Zang! talk 15:17, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
Comment - It's not working for me either - the [hide] link is not showing on collapsible tables. Perhaps it has something to do with Firefox going from v21 to v22? No idea what was is exactly broken though. 5-x Talk 16:44, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
- I believe Cam broke them! :p. — Jr Mime (talk) 16:49, July 3, 2013 (UTC)
Closed - For the record, it will have broken a few days ago when I pushed several changes to [[MediaWiki:Common.js]] in an effort to reduce the overall loading time of scripts on the wiki. We now load 3 scripts by default, increasing to 6 - 7 depending on the situation and what you're viewing, instead of the previous 30+. Hopefully this is a marked improvement, although it is still being worked on.
As for collapsible elements, collapsible tables were previously 'made' by a script that originated from Wikipedia. Since the 1.19 MediAwiki upgrade from last summer that script has become deprecated in favour of a default module found in core MediaWiki. As there is little point in loading 2 scripts for the same purpose, the older (optional) script has been removed. All that really needs changing are the associated classes:
There are some extra issues with the system message for the expand and collapse toggle links not working correctly, although this can be bypassed by using
data-expandtext="<expand caption>" data-collapsetext="<collapse caption>". For examples of how this is done, see Template:Navbox or Template:Infobox monster.
There may be some issues with styling that was previously applied to the old
collapsible tables, Infobox monster was one, there may be more.
In this specific case I have restored the collapsible feature of the sitenotice. I have not added the dismiss link back in as this is also a problem in monobook's sitenotice, although I should have this fixed in the next day or so.
If anyone has any further collapsible issues, please notify me on my talk page or RS:AR. I get emails if anyone edits either so I should pick it up relatively quickly. cqm 21:44, 3 Jul 2013 (UTC) (UTC)
