Another rather minor change to the standard looks of our Wiki here. This time, it involves changing the colour of the text (example being what you are reading right now; no, not this) to solid black. This only involves adding a small amount of code to [[MediaWiki:Wikia.css]]:

.color1, .color1 a, .yui-panel .hd, .WikiaPage { color:black !important; }

Can it be in hexadecial (#000000)? Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 07:23, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
Yes it can. 222 talk 07:26, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Support - #3A3A3A is such an ugly shade of #808080. Wink Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 07:30, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Neutral - Since I'm in Monobook, and refuse to use the new skin, I don't really see a problem. Real Nub 07:48, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Wait for the new theme to be approved and that should come with a colour that suits it. If we need we can change it after that. Plus it's easier to use Themedesigner to change the colour than css especially since it won't look as great with monobook probably. This only affects Oasis. 222 talk 08:01, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
Then use Theme designer it is a lot easier. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 08:05, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Question - What's the change? JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 11:55, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, then I really don't care. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 19:06, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - I really don't see the difference between this and solid black. It's not like it's that big of a deal. The negative side to changing adding things to JS/CSS is that it increases load times for pages. I'd rather avoid increasing load times for small and unneeded things like this. --LiquidTalk 23:44, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Current Black
There, you can see the difference now. Adding something to css (js... no one said js) will not slow the loading time (at least not humanly noticeable). Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 01:32, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Support - more contrast = better, and the increase in load time would be all but imperceptible. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 04:56, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - Because it's completely unneeded. bad_fetustalk 16:08, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Per Psycho. HaloTalk 20:22, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - As no legitimate downsides to this change have been mentioned, the proposals goes in the category of "obvious improvements". As such, I've added this to the CSS file. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 10:28, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

Request for closure - Stelercus did it so that would be the end if it. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 10:42, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - Why can't it be changed with the Theme designer instead of .css? It is much easier. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 10:45, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

A few reasons:
  1. Non-sysops can't see ThemeDesigner history
  2. Non-sysops can't see ThemeDesigner's current setting
  3. ThemeDesigner is new and may be buggy
  4. ThemeDesigner might change the page source and not the CSS (I think)
  5. Most importantly, some of us are good with CSS and not a nub like you Wink

  1. Why does it matter?
  2. Why does it matter? the result is the same
  3. It"s not buggy it"s been fixed
  4. No themeDesigner only affects the page not the source code
  5. Some of us are good with ThemeDesigner too

ThemeDesigner was made idiotproof by Wikia. 222 talk 05:18, December 7, 2010 (UTC)
Here is the easier explanation. The text of a page is only determined by the colour of your background. You don't have a choice in deciding if you want a white, gray, or black text in the ThemeDesigner. The colour of text only applied to links, those determined by <a></a>, nothing else for text is changeable. Until Wikia wants to add more to the available selections in the Designer, these changes must be done through the CSS. Ryan PM 05:30, December 7, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - With Ryan's comment said, it's clear why we can't use the ThemeDesigner. That's about it. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 10:20, December 7, 2010 (UTC)
