After seeing how inconsistent drop table are for monsters I was think it would be a good idea to change them. Something like what I have as an example below. We can do stuff like add the GE price, or whatever to this. The main reason I see this as helpful is when I'm out slaying I always have to open several pages to see what is worth picking up, or alching, of keeping for GE.

Item Rarity High
Alchemy
Value
Notes
Dragon spear rare 37,440 Keep
Black warhammer 764
Black hatchet 230
Steel medium helmet 180
Steel warhammer 499
Adamant medium helmet 1,125
Adamant warhammer 3,213
Mithril square shield 936
Rune spear rare 12,480
5 Rune javelins 374 Per javelin

Even if we don't go with the table approach we do need to (if not already) come up with a consist way of doing drop table. See Mountain Troll and Spiritual Warrior for examples of this. zvar1 21:43, October 12, 2009 (UTC)

Discussion

Comment - Are the drop tables in Mountain Troll and Spiritual Warrior good or bad examples of how to organize them?  Tien  15:57, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

Bad. Ancient talisman.png Oil4 Talk 20:33, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
Comment - What's so bad about those? I actually like the way that they're organized on those pages. Of course, I still prefer a modified version of what's seen on the other Yew Grove discussion than anything else. 20px‎ Kudos 2 U Talk! Edit count! Contribs! 21:02, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Support changing the drop tables, but the one you did doesn't look great. We do need a new table, but certainly not that bad_fetustalk 20:42, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

Support changing tables - Per Chessmaster. I don't like the way they are now but I don't like the suggested idea either. ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  21:13, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

Support and comment - It is a good idea the drop tables now are lists we need tables but why dont you like the one above? needs css or something?--

Comment - What happened to the old discussion about changing categorizing rarity in accordance with drop ratio? — Enigma 06:15, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

Mmhmm, right here. Not archived, just dead, much better ideas IMO. — Enigma 06:17, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
I believe that thread is dealing only with the rarity words placed after each drop. This is for changing the actual layout of the drop lists (into drop tables with more info). Both can pass and be implemented separately if needed. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 21:26, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Comment - Enigma, we can still do both. Create a page called Drop Rates (or whatever) and post the rate table to it. Then simply link to that page from the drop table header.

I do see that what little discussion we should change the ways drop tables are, but as I'm not seeing a better way of doing it (and if anyone has an idea, please post) I'll do the Be Bold thing and start changing pages as I come to them. - zvar1 16:52, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Altered proposal - Going on the above comments about its look etc, here's something different (using the wikitable class, adding a GEPrice column, adding a quantity column).

With some parsers we could add some enhancements, such as sell on GE/high alch/low alch with explorer's ring depending on prices (see the code for the Dragon spear and Steel helm's Notes column).

Thoughts? Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 21:26, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

The table would be a little bit better if the dragon spear said "high alch" because you'll get more money that way, even if you buy the nature
-- 21:39, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Dragon spear high alch: 37,440 coins.
Dragon spear GE: 36,285
Nature rune: 270 coins.
Profit by alching: 37,170 coins.
Therefore you get more by high alching (an extra 885 coins). Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 21:46, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Ok im sorry i missed that the price went up in the last two days, but seriously that equals a cost of 1gp per exp so its really not that bad and i would alch it too
-- 21:58, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
No worries. Thats a good point; I reworded it slightly, to say what it means, so its a guideline not an imperitive; players can make their own decisions about to alch or not to alch. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 22:29, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
