I recently updated {{Forumheader}} to be neater and to remove the warning when it is archived. This is done by setting an archive parameter to true. The other feature I added was that the thread can be stickied by setting sticky to true. To show the changes, mainly the space efficiency and neatness that comes with using the parameter over the template, I have pictures of the differences below.

So, in short, I would like to make this the official means of adding the archived template to closed discussions.

  • Support - As proposer. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 21:39, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Oppose - There is nothing wrong with having an extra space. The warning could also be removed for those who add {{Archive}} to the page, instead of using the parameter. This seems to be an overly bureaucratic proposal to me. --LiquidTalk 21:41, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Adding {{Archive}} to a page does not remove the warning. I also don't see it as bureaucratic either, it's just a slight change in the way we add the archive template to discussions for the sake of neatness and to reduce confusion. Comment - Since we use the Forumheader, we could also hide the page header saving even more space. - TehKittyCatTalk Wikian-Book 01:29, May 14, 2010 (UTC) Never mind, on second thought the forumheader is too small to work well for that. - TehKittyCatTalk Wikian-Book 01:33, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

  • Weak support for future - I am only supporting adding this feature for the closure of future threads, and leave the old threads be. No need to file through hundreds of archived threads to remove a little white space. Speaking of archiving, me has a naise guide. Smile Chicken7 >talk 05:58, May 14, 2010 (UTC)
    • I never intended for it to be changed in old threads, and while I would not mind, it would be too tedious to worry about. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 09:39, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Great idea although i remember a discussion about this sometime in the past.Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 10:20, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

I don't see how this is bureaucratic in any seance of the word. All we are changing is adding "|archive=true" to the end of the forum header template as opposed to adding {{Archive}} directly below it. This can only be beneficial, in that there are not any downsides. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 18:41, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - The downsides are that you're forcing the older users to change their habits. As a rule of thumb, those users don't like to have changes forced upon them. Judging by the outroar that arose when a few older users had their signatures changed, I can't see this going over quietly. --LiquidTalk 18:46, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

It's ridiculous to get upset over something as small as this. I highly doubt any of our admins would get upset that easily because they have to type something slightly different when closing discussions, and if they do, they are being silly. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 19:04, May 14, 2010 (UTC)
I could care less either way, but some are specific about their habits. It could happen. --LiquidTalk 19:18, May 14, 2010 (UTC)
I'd have to kind of agree with Liquid. I was suggesting a new idea for closing discussions to another long-time admin, and he was a bit disgruntled by it, claiming everything is just getting more confusing. Chicken7 >talk 00:24, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
How is "|archive=true" confusing? If wikia switched up the way signatures work (for whatever reason, just an example) so you need three tides to sign without a timestamp, four for just a timestamp, and five for both, would we all get upset or quit the wiki over it? No, we would just adapt. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 00:59, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
Er... I would just change my signature button to spit out five tildes instead of four, and I would go about my business as usual. --LiquidTalk 01:33, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
I said that they said it was confusing, not me. Plus, change can be confusing. Some people have been doing it this way for years, and the change may just be pointless in their opinion. Chicken7 >talk 09:12, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
I'm just trying to get the point across that we should not bend over backwords because it's going to take a few admin a few minutes to figure the new system out. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 11:03, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, you could simply put {{Archive}} before {{Forumheader}} instead of after, change {{Archive}} to include

and instead of checking

Hello71 02:13, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

What would the advantage of this be? Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 11:03, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
Hypothetically, this would decrease the "outroar" of the change... ⁓ Hello71 13:32, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
I fear that it will be even more confusing, even for most of the admins. Magic-icon.pngStelercusIlluminated Book of Balance.png 13:45, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Support - Changing a parameter is easy enough. It makes more sense, really, to have the entire process handled by one template. I'm a regular user and I approve this message.  TLUL Talk - Contribs 01:14, June 23, 2010 (UTC)
