It has recently come to my attention that separate pages for baby animals in POF/ROOT exist (for example, Lamb (Player-owned farm), and Cow calf (Player-owned farm)). These pages have low visibility, due to lack of mention on other pages (not linked to on main animal page or any disambigs, pretty much only linked in the POF navbox). Additionally, there isn't any information on these pages that don't already exist on their *main* animal page.
Anyways, the point I'm getting at here is that arguably these pages should not exist, as despite the NPC in game having a different name for egg & baby stages, the item name for the same animal stays the same all way through. I think the pages should exist either as a disambig (e.g. Lamb may refer to: White ewe, blahblah (not black ewe as they have black lambs)), or as a redirect (Lamb would redirect to Sheep (Player-owned farm), as they're the baby version of all sheep rather than a specific sheep species).
POF pages are complex enough already without having unnecessary baby and egg pages for merely different growth stages of the same animal. We don't do this for NPCs with different outfits/names, so I see no reason to do it for animals.

Strong support redirecting all baby & egg names/pages - As nominator. Redirects make more sense as each species 'hub' page contains all the information a disambig would have anyways.20:34, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Keep as is - They're NPCs that are distinct from the items. Arguably the adolescent-elder NPCs should have pages too (or at least infoboxes for stuff like examine text, ect.)20:41, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
- Also, by this logic, we'd need to delete the non-spider/dragon shiny pages for consistency. Like the babies, they are not distinct items, just a variable for the breeds that causes a different NPC to appear in the pen.

- Copying my comment from discord to this thread - "arguably shinies are different as they actually have a different icon (and name) as listed in the breeding log"
Support - I would redirect them to the main animal page like Sheep (Player-owned farm) for Lambs. 20:57, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Comment - Been discussing this in discord - another reason for disliking the baby pages is due to the fact that the *adult* npcs do not have their own page (so, this would require all POF items be split to the item page, and the NPC page). Cook mentioned the possibility of the (future, currently gallery) growth stages section containing NPC infoboxes to solve the issue of NPC id locations, without having to triple the amount of POF pages.20:58, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Keep as is - This isn't even a debate. They are separate NPCs and, as such, require their own pages, just like Battleben said. Also, even though different breeds have separate inventory icons, if they are placed in the pen while they are in the child growth stage, they all appear as the same child/baby animal. This reinforces the case to keep it as is.16:13, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Support - Granularity is fine when it's reasonable but as stated above POF gets very complicated very fast. It's best to have it on one page; in a similar fashion to potion doses, we could do switch infoboxes for NPCs? Coelacanth0794 Talk 16:54, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Neutral/Alternate - If all npc versions redirect to the item pages then the item pages need switch infoboxes which also have the npc versions. Alternatively we have an item page for each breed (eg Black ram) with switch for checked/unchecked and an npc page for each species (current Spider (Player-owned farm) type pages) with switch for different ages, types etc. If pages are split (even just npc/item) then infobox animal should really be on each one, and it'd be good to have links to the different pages in that infobox (similar to how infobox faming is now). 17:36, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Just a brief update: I've made an example page of this over at User:Starieeena/oink 23:02, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
Support - Showing growth stages through a switch infobox or in the manner of the Cat page would be the best bet. 18:54, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Support - Per Jayden13:14, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Keep as is - Per Ben and Elessar. The pages should be developed not just merged into others, they're distinct NPCs by name and aesthetic and should have distinct names as a result.22:55, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
Support(ish) - Previously on Forum:Player-owned farm animal pages... I agree with the analogy that Coel makes, babies are similar-ish to potion doses and as such babies should be merged onto their grown counterparts. This should obviously have a switchinfobox then, one infobox for the (checked) item and one or more infoboxes for the NPCs. This also means that the baby's page should redirect to its grown counterpart. In case a baby is shared by different breeds within the species, then it should redirect to the species' page, but also be part of the breed's individual pages, e.g. have the Bunny (Player-owned farm) redirect to Rabbit (Player-owned farm), and add the bunny NPC as an additional infobox to common brown rabbit, Rellekkan cream rabbit, and Piscatorian cottontail rabbit. It wouldn't need to be added to the Jackalope as that's a separate shiny page specifically for the shiny variant NPC. To reiterate what was said on the previous thread, unchecked items as well as shinies should be/remain separate pages. I don't know though if having an NPC infobox on the species' page for every breed (including shiny) as well as the baby variant(s) as shown on User:Starieeena/oink is what I want. Yes, we should have a 'hub' species page, but I feel adding infoboxes of the NPCs in a species takes away too much from the individual breed's page. Imo the gallery suffices for showing off the breeds within a species. Perhaps the gallery can be merged with the breeds table. We can have a species infobox though if we really want an infobox on those pages. This infobox would only contain the species name, release date and update though so it doesn't duplicate stuff from the animal infobox. Maybe other stuff too, but that's all I could think of. 19:56, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
