In this thread, I'd like to look at how to display retrieval dates. The thing is, the RuneScape website is constantly updating, and one day there might be a link that still exists, the next day it might be dead. The warning length is far too long (for example, if someone added a link to the Game Guide a couple of months before it was updated, there would be nothing to tell people it might be outdated).

This is why I feel it is important that I bring it up again. In a previous thread, there seemed to be consensus to add the retrieval date, although how to display it seemed to be the question. I don't like the thought of having an idea the community finds is better, then not implementing it.

This is why I want to make a more specific proposal this time. The way I'd like to see a retrieval date displayed is directly on the page itself, not in the hover text. This is just more convenient and doesn't really that up much space (you might be able to imagine the inconvenience of having to put your mouse over a page with 40-50 references). Here is an example of what I mean when I say directly on the page:

Support - I see no reason why not. It would help update the various outdated links we have. Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon.png 15:42, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

Support - A couple of months ago I would have opposed this. But with Jagex's ridiculous new website overhaul, I think this change is justified, at least until we are able to get all the citations under control. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 16:54, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

Support - I don't see a problem with retrieval dates. 222 talk 04:18, December 24, 2011 (UTC)

Support - I genuinely don't see why not. I don't see the value of having it in hover text. Matt (t) 10:23, December 24, 2011 (UTC)
